Zimmermann jet sets to the British Virgin Islands for its latest swimwear campaign. On-the-rise fashion photographer Darren McDonald lends his innocently sensual style to the brand and the result is compelling in its raw beauty.
Shot at the scenic volcanic grottoes of The Baths on Virgin Gorda, surrounded by huge granite boulders and calm aqua waters, the campaign stars international darling Eniko Mihalik, whose doe-like expression and long silhouette plays up to the moody, idyllic vibe with ease.
Presenting a fresh vision for swimwear season after season, Zimmermann‘s Resort Swim collection moves between sophisticated structure and relaxed lines with ease while continuing to evolve the brand’s signatures of mixed prints, flirty details and an overriding modern approach.
Swim silhouettes deconstruct as the collection progresses from technical panelling to overtly simple and clean designs. Paisley, floral and leopard print is spliced with mesh, alluding to lingerie in corseted stitching, scalloped edges, latticed lace and fine embedded laddering.
On the flipside elastic trims frame sleek, fast-paced shapes with edgy finishes and textural lycra for a harder look. Zippers undo halter necks, bonded fabrications mould to the body, necklines plunge and sporty layers nod to the 80s.
Extending the offering of easy apparel styles for long summer days, nonchalance dominates in sheer white, tiered silk cotton voile, embroidered florals and light cheesecloth. Accessories are playful and cool; high top sneakers, duffle bags, baseball caps, towels and crisscross leather sandals come together with an athletic vibe.
Zimmermann’s Resort Swim 2014 collection is arriving worldwide first week of October. The same month also sees Zimmermann expand its New York store to a bigger flagship at 55 Mercer Street, Soho, which will be the brand’s biggest store worldwide.
