One of Australia’s most highly acclaimed sparkling wine labels, Pirie, is celebrating Summer with the launch of three new cool-climate premium Tasmanian sparkling wines to its range.
This exciting new additions – Pirie Sparkling Rosé 2009, Pirie Sparkling Vintage 2009 and Pirie Blanc de Blancs 2009 – are the perfect companions to the award-winning Pirie Sparkling NV.
Named after the internationally acclaimed Dr Andrew Pirie who was awarded Australia’s first PHD in viticulture, the Pirie wine is a tribute to the contribution Dr Pirie has made to the success of the Australian wine industry.
The new Pirie Rosé 2009 is made from hand-picked pinot noir grapes which have been whole-bunch pressed leaving the skins to release a delicate pink hue to the wine.
The Pirie Vintage, produced from vines located on the slopes of the Tamar Valley and Pipers River regions located in northern Tasmania, is a richly flavoured chardonnay and pinot noir, boasting a complexity borne from barrel age and reserve blending. This delicious addition recently won the Dan Murphy’s trophy for Best Sparkling at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards.
The Pirie Blanc de Blancs 2009, is made int he traditional method from hand-picked chardonnay grapes sourced from cool-climate Northern Tasmanian vineyards, which produce fruit with great purity and acid. The vibrant, lemony win supports a pleasant richness in the mouth and an elegant finish. The Pirie Blanc de Blanc recently won a gold medal at the 2014 Rutherglen Wine Show.
