It’s safe to say I’ve lost hours, probably months in total trawling online shops. Net-A-Porter, Asos, Shopbop, I’ve done them all. We are spoilt for choice in this day an age, which means we can often fall into the trap of buying things for the sake of buying.
When Couturing recently caught up with super-stylist Stevie Dance during her second collaboration with Melbourne’s GPO, she revealed she was working on an online Zine (ShopGhost.com), which officially launched on Wednesday.
Shop Ghost offers readers a curated shopping experience which aims to edit content for shoppers, meaning not only can you shop the latest trends, but you can also get the inside word on the hottest places to shop from industry insiders. Given that Stevie is one of the most in demand people in fashion, you can be assured these insiders, known on the site as ‘Guest Ghosts’, will be some of the most creative and reputable people in the industry.
These Guest Ghosts will also share their shopping habits, which for recent Guest Ghost, Street Style photographer, Tommy Ton, proved to be very interesting! Ton, who will be attending Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for Oroton in a few weeks, admitted that last year he spent the average person’s salary on clothes. He said it got to a point where he couldn’t go a day without ordering something online.
From the effortlessly cool vibe, to the quirky products selected, called ‘Ghost Gets’ it’s easy to see Dance’s aesthetic come through in the Zine.
It’s great to see online shops increasingly moving towards this magazine style format, with Net-A-Porter and Asos offering trend reports with easy links to shop the trends now. This makes it easy for shoppers to browse without having a million options thrown at them at once.
Where you can sometimes get lost in faceless online websites, Ghost Shop almost feels like a friend, a real genuine place to shop where people only recommend things they love.
So next time you feel the urge to shop online, make sure you pay a visit to Shop Ghost for an inspired shopping experience.
