VAMFF BACKSTAGE BEAUTY: RUNWAY 5 PRESENTED BY COSMOPOLITAN

Runway 5 presented by Cosmopolitan at VAMFF showcased some of Australia’s favourite labels including FINDERS KEEPERS, Cameo, Jaggar, Talulah, Rodeo Show, and Wild Horses, in a runway showcasing digital prints, sharp tailoring in bold and bright colours. Couturing went behind the scenes to find out the beauty looks behind the runway.

Hair by L’Oreal Professionnel

VAMFF Hair Director Caterina Di Biase for L’Oreal Professionnel created the ‘ultimate ponytail’ by using a classic look and giving it a few simple tweaks. Overall, Di Biase wanted to give this runway ‘a cool, strong beauty punch’ and showed how this classic, sometimes underestimated style can be given a fashion edge with just a few simple tweaks.

“The hair is sleek, neat and elegant with the added element of the centre mohawk. This look was inspired by the classic ponytail. It’s a sexy and dramatic take on the runway ponytail,” explained Di Biase.

Get the look:

1. Apply L’Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Nourishing Milk to towel dried hair to enhance a natural healthy shine. Blow dry your hair and then use a hair iron to straighten it.
2. Section the hair from the centre of each eye brow and pull it back into a V at the nape of the neck. This will create the ‘mohawk’ section.
3. In a bowl, mix a small amount of L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.Art Liss Control and Tecni.Art Full Volume Extra. Using a tint brush, apply  the mix to the roots. Gather the hair back and tie it in a ponytail, leaving the centre mohawk out.
4. Using L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.Art Super Dust, place it through the roots of the centre mohawk. This will give your mohawk extra texture and volume. Brush the centre section gently and tie it back with the other ponytail.

Make Up

Runway 5 had a much bolder look compared to Runway 4 earlier in the evening. L’Oreal Paris Super Liner was used to give a striking look on the runway, complementing the sleek ponytail. A light lipstick shade, 453 Rose Creme, kept the focus on the eyes.
