To keep Melburnians a little warmer this winter, iconic Japanese clothing retailer, UNIQLO, will give away 10,000 of its signature HEATTECH thermal shirts – with 50% of the portion being donated to its three charity partners, Melbourne City Mission, St Vincent’s Foundation and Thread Together.
With Melburnians having a rough start to the chilly season due to the recent state-wide lockdown, UNIQLO will be running a giveaway of HEATTECH shirts, one of their most popular winter warmers, to say a big “thank you” to Melbourne residents during these challenging times.
At 10.00am, 1.00pm and 4.00pm on the 25th of June, Melburnians can jump online onto UNIQLO’s dedicated microsite for the chance to redeem a free HEATTECH shirt (to the value of $19.90) in-stores with the exciting return of last year’s online game, “Hot or Cold”. Once online, players are to find three levels of hidden HEATTECH shirts – HEATTECH, Extra Warm, Ultra Warm – by moving their cursor to find the invisible shirts which move in the unseen background. With their cursor acting as a heat seeker, it will change colour to advise when they are closer or further from the HEATTECH shirt. Move further away from the hidden shirt and the cursor turns “colder”, move closer and the cursor gets “warmer”. As limited quantities available, Melburnians are encouraged to get in early during the release slots (10.00am, 1.00pm and 4.00pm) as UNIQLO is expecting that the 5,000 HEATTECH shirts will be won quickly .
A new feature of the giveaway this year to help at-risk communities, participants will not only be able to win a free HEATTECH shirt, they will also have the chance to gift one to someone in need by selecting from one of the three charities partnering with UNIQLO. With the cold front well underway, the partnering charities – Melbourne City Mission (MCM), St Vincent’s Foundation, and Thread Together – will be in the best position to surprise and delight those that would most benefit from an added layer of warmth with a UNIQLO HEATTECH shirt.
Victoria’s largest youth homelessness provider, MCM, will distribute their HEATTECH shirts to young people experiencing or at-risk homelessness across their nine youth refuges youths, with St Vincent’s Foundation providing theirs to healthcare workers and patients within their network. Thread Together
on the other hand, will be sharing their HEATTECH items to over 300 grassroot charities supporting Australians doing it tough. These people experiencing vulnerability could be someone escaping domestic violence, indigenous communities, those impacted by drought, bushfires, floods and the
pandemic. But, it’s not just for Victorians, UNIQLO fans nation-wide can still play the online “Hot or Cold” game, for their chance to win one of five $500 UNIQLO vouchers to update their winter wardrobe.
HEATTECH is one of UNIQLO’s most notable innovations that has changed the way customers dress. As the name suggests, the material is the essence of cutting-edge technology that is warm, lightweight, and has a smooth feel on the skin. Comprising of four distinct yarns, the product uses moisture released from the body to generate heat and keep it from escaping. This innovative fabric also dries quickly by absorbing and releasing any moisture on the skin. HEATTECH delivers warmth in a single thin and comfortable layer, reducing bulk and increasing comfort. This single thin layer combines an array of advanced technologies, including heat absorption, heat retention, soft texture, anti-odor, stretchable comfort, anti-static, moisture wicking and quick dry to provide a versatile and convenient fit for the wearer. There are three types of innerwear, suited to different settings and environments, each with a different level of warmth:
– HEATTECH – for regular winter weather
– HEATTECH Extra Warm – for colder days and is 1.5 times the warmth of HEATTECH
– HEATTECH Ultra Warm – for the extreme cold and is 2.25 times the warmth of HEATTECH
