Over two days in June, Prahran Market is set to experience truffle-mania when prestigious Australian food festival, Truffle Melbourne, transforms the food lover’s market into a fungi haven, complete with free cooking demonstrations from some of Melbourne’s best Chef’s including the coveted Karen Martini, and exquisite truffle tastes all weekend
Truffles and their food and drink partners will be taking centre stage across the weekend with deliciously infused food, drink and activities set to impress not only Melbournians who thought truffles were chocolate balls, but also those who are well versed in all things truffle.
Join the fun and follow the Taste The Truffle Trail around the Market, sampling inspired truffle creations from artisan producers. Visit Damian Pike the truffle and mushroom man for a truffle infused boiled egg with truffled Dijon mayonnaise on a brioche bun, Gary’s Quality Meats for a truffle and veal gourmet sausage and more, before finishing the trail with a truffled chocolate dessert from Cioccolato Lombardo.
Karen Martini and Alice Zaslavsky will lead a stellar chef line up featuring talks and free cooking demonstrations running right across the weekend with guest Chef’s such as Sara Hinchey (aka The Truffle Hound), Florent Gerardin from Pei Modern and Dylan Robert’s from Prahran’s iconic Charlie Dumpling showcasing the very best of truffles and how best to enjoy them at home.
A truffle celebration wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the thrill of participating in the world’s tastiest game of hide and seek; a truffle hunt. Watch on as impressively truffle trained dogs sniff out the prized delicacies, in the Market Square.
Truffle Melbourne’s truffle celebration at Prahran Market will take place over Saturday 20 June 2015 and Sunday 21 June 2015. Limited tickets are available to participate in the Taste The Truffle Trail, so truffle enthusiasts are urged to get in quickly. Tickets are just $45 and include 6 truffle tasting plates and a drink.
