The Melbourne Cup Carnival kicks off things this Saturday with Derby Day. During the Spring Carnival, the action isn’t limited to carparks and marquees, but will be found in the new entertainment and fashion precinct at Flemington, The Park. This will be home to an expanded area for Myer Fashions on the Field, James Boag’s Premium Bar, Lavazza coffee, L’Oréal Paris Powder Room, the Yellowglen Terrace as well as home to some of Melbourne’s hottest restaurants and culinary destinations including Hanoi Hannah and Saigon Sally, Huxtaburger, Gelato Messina, Biggie Smalls, Doughnut Time and Knafeh.
Aside from this there is plenty to do so we’ve rounded up some of the places we’re going to visit during the Cup Carnival.
FLEMINGTON FLING BAR
The iconic Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar returns bigger and bolder for the 2016 Melbourne Cup Carnival, with an impressive line-up of Australia’s top DJs, signature cocktails and the energetic vibe that makes the Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar the place to soak up all the Carnival atmosphere. Race-goers will be spoilt for choice with an array of bespoke cocktails, inspired by the unique ingredients of the Schweppes range and expertly created by a team of master mixologists. It wouldn’t be Spring Racing without the beloved ‘Flemington Fling’ – the official cocktail of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – tantalising taste buds with a mix of vodka, fresh lime, aromatic mint and the fruity flavour of Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange.
So enjoy the only bar in GA with live DJs including Grant Smillie, Andy Murphy, John Course and Minx as well as the new, specially crafted cocktails. Some of the new cocktail lineup include ‘Down The Straight’, with a refreshing mix of rum, lime, fresh ginger and Schweppes Lemonade; ‘The Clock Tower Cooler’, with a blended mix of scotch whisky, lemon, fresh apple juice and Schweppes Dry Ginger Ale; and ‘Weight For (S)age’, combining gin, orange wedges, fresh sage and Schweppes Bitter Lemon.

L’OREAL PARIS POWDER ROOM
The heavenly space is the place to visit if you’re a beauty afficianado or need a beauty touch up during the day.
L’Oréal Paris expects to use 612 lipsticks, 144 brow pencils and palettes, 120 cans of hairspray, and more than 300 bottles of nail polish, as thousands of visitors make their way through the Powder Room’s five stations on Derby, Melbourne Cup, Oaks and Stakes Days.
Inside, guests will choose from a multitude of beauty touch ups and consultations, from a pop of colour on the lips or a chic nail polish, through to an on-trend bold brow and photo-perfect contouring. A social media hub will also allow guests to capture the moment before they leave with the coveted L’Oréal Paris gift bag, containing almost $90 worth of the latest L’Oréal Paris beauty must-haves.
L’Oréal Paris Makeup Director for Australia, Tobi Henney will also be on hand to offer her advice on spring racing beauty, and has created four key makeup looks for each day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Having recently returned from working behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week, Tobi is the go-to makeup artist for celebrity clients including Jessica Gomes, Georgia Fowler, Shanina Shaik and Megan Blake-Irwin.

YELLOWGLEN TERRACE
Over the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Yellowglen Terrace will feature a fresh and floral spring design. Rebeccah Panozza, model, equestrian rider and fiancee of AFL star Travis Cloke has been named the 2016 Yellowglen Terrace Spring Racing Ambassador. In her role, Rebeccah will attend the Terrace throughout the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Capturing racegoers when they visit Yellowglen Terrace will be illustrator Chantel de Sousa, who will be doing live portrait drawings of guests in their stylish racing outfits.
Yellowglen Terrace will be open to the public and free to enjoy at Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Spring Racing Winners’ Circle After Parties at The Deck at Circa
Technically not on the race course, this is the place to be when the sun goes down during this year’s Spring Racing Carnival. The Deck at Circa will host exclusive ‘Winners’ Circle’ Spring Racing After Parties on Derby, Cup and Oaks days to celebrate this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival 2016. The parties will be open to VIP guests, race day attendees and the general public.
Premium beverage offerings by major sponsor Moët & Chandon plus Dom Perignon, Belvedere, Aperol and more will confirm The Deck at Circa as the ultimate Spring Racing after party destination. Guests will have unbridled access to the striking ‘Aperol Spritz Bar’, serving up this summer’s must drink beverage, as well as the decadent ‘Moët & Chandon Gold Lounge’ plus flowing Espresso Martinis.
Well known local DJs including DJ Prequel, CeeCee Babcock, Edd Fisher and friends will set the tone for the after parties and tempting post-race food offerings will meet all guests needs to continue their carnival experience all while playing in the multiple ‘Mr. Boothy’ photo booths available each night.
