Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate Sunglass Hut’s new Valentine’s Day collection, the face of the brand Georgia May Jagger shared a behind the scene look at the new campaign and her thoughts on love.
Tell us about the Valentine’s Day shoot, it looked like lots of fun?
The shoot was a lot of fun! We shot the campaign at the boardwalk on Coney Island in New York. I kept thinking about Beyoncé’s video for “XO” (that was filmed at Coney Island). I really wanted to ride the Cyclone roller coaster! We had a good time, lots of laughs, enjoyed the cotton candy and wearing the new sunglass collections.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
When I met with the Sunglass Hut team, we talked about how much courting and dating has really changed, especially with millennials, who just seem to be rewriting the rules when it comes to romance. Everyone is on Tinder, swiping left or right! So this campaign, it’s about giving this traditional romantic holiday a makeover for modern times. If people are no longer dating the same, why should they gift the same tired box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day?
What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?
Valentine’s Day to me is about telling your loved ones, whether it’s a significant other, your best friend, someone in your family, just simply that you love and cherish them. Taking the time to appreciate the people that are in your life.
What would be your ideal Valentine’s Day?
It’s probably not the most romantic or original idea but since I travel so much for work, I like to stay home and cook dinner with my boyfriend. I’d also love a day to enjoy my friends and family. It’s love on a larger scale!!
Who was your first love?
Hmmm….that would be telling!
What was your first Valentine’s gift ever?
I actually don’t recall but my mom would always send me a card!!
How would you buy sunglasses for your partner?
I love Josh’s personal style and would use that as my first source of inspiration. Then I would think about where and when he would wear sunglasses, and what brands he may like. I would usually pick a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers with very dark lenses for him but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up and pick something out of the box and experiment with a different colour or style!
What are your favourite styles for the men in your life?
I do love a good aviator on a man. Ray-Ban has updated the original with gradated lenses but a guy can wear anything as long as he’s confident. Sunglass Hut has a great range of brands and styles for men, with so many that focus on quality, craftsmanship or that use new materials like rubber and canvas in the product details.
