It’s a new year and it means new resolutions! If you’re anything like me then one of your resolutions is to increase your fitness and live a healthier life. Almost three weeks in and I think I’m doing ok….but I have to say that I have been helped a little bit on the way to improving and changing my fitness lifestyle and that has been through the Nike Training Club App.
Given our penchant to use our smartphone for everything, I have to say that this little app is the perfect friend you need to keep your resolution. Why you ask? Well it’s like having a personal trainer at your beck and call as the app features videos and information on exercises and training regimes, and you can record results and progress. The new version of the app has just been released with improved sharing capabilities (to motivate and share your experiences with your friend) and a new Nike Training Club feed to get motivation from trainers and athletes.
To celebrate the launch of the new version of the Nike Training Club app, Nike celebrated with a very special session of the Nike Training Club at Melbourne’s iconic Forum Theatre. Nike Training Cub sessions have been an ongoing part of Nike’s commitment to fitness with regular sessions at Melbourne Central throughout the year and the first session of 2015 proved to be a taste of what is to come throughout this year.
The session was led by Nike Master Trainer Kirsty Godso, who has recently returned from South Korea where she ran a Nike class for over 2000 people, and a very special guest trainer, Women’s tennis player Victoria Azarenka. Many of the participants were not told of the special guest appearing and when the two time Grand Slam champion and former world number 1 player came out on stage, she was greeted with huge cheers.
Excited to be back in Melbourne for the Australian Open, Victoria relished the relaxed and fun atmosphere at the session and was looking forward to getting back into competitive tennis after 2014 proved to be a year filled with injuries.
When it came to the training session, I’d have to say that I was definitely whipped into shape by Kirsty and Victoria. Paired up, the hour long session involved squats, planks, strength training and cardio. Not a workout for the faint hearted but I felt fantastic after. Victoria worked her way around the room helping people with their moves and then at the end got up for a bit of a boogie when we did a few dance routines to finish off our workout.
You can find similar routines that we did on the Nike Training Club app so you too can experience what we did during the Nike Training Club session. Definitely give it a go – I promise you that you will feel awesome after!
Couturing wishes Victoria Azarenka and other Nike ambassadors all the best for the Australian Open!
The Nike Training Club app is available for iPhone through iTunes and Android from Google Play.
