Spring is here! So it’s time a time for new things and maybe new hair? We sat down with renowned hair stylist Christiaan Georgio at his new, eponymous hair salon at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne to discuss new trends for hair styles and colour.
What do you think we’re going to see on the streets this Spring?
We’re seeing an evolution in hair length with new shoulder length hair with textured edges, shattered long layers and framed edges around the face. It’s a sexy look “alluring, soft, sexy, femme”. At Christiaan Georgio, we like understated elegance with beautiful clean smooth finishes, worn straight/tousled. It’s all about luxury hair, shiny and glossy and hydrated.
For short hair, we’re seeing a highly textured look and for those with creamy blonde hair shadow roots are on show. For medium hair, shoulder length is in this Spring. Soft, bouncy and sexy hair at this length. Those with long hair should look to have long layers with global shades from luxury chocolate, caramel browns to our favourite palate of warm champagne blonde.
There is a departure of hair extensions, allowing hair to breath, wearable, natural, hair. Pony tails are ultra chic this spring either in a high pony tail, low pony tail or on the side with hair swept away from the face.
What is the must have hair colour?
We love blondes at the moment – from champagne to creamy golden to icy. Tinted, highlighted blazed all combination in achieving luxury glamour looks. The “now look” is tonal blondes, deeper shade at the roots, subject to blazed ends. Caramel tones will also be popular working at graduation from deep at roots to light at ends.
