The Birdcage was the place to see and be seen at this year’s Melbourne Cup. We bring you a round of up all the action at the top marquees.
EMIRATES
The highlights of the Emirates marquee, apart from the spectacular trackside view from the balcony, was a guest appearance from model Gigi Hadid wearing Alex Perry (and a surprise proposal for controversial personality Gabi Grecko). The German themed marquee was one of the most covetable spots to see the main race, with many racegoers happy to queue to gain entry.

MYER
The new tagline for the store, Find Wonderful, served as the perfect theme for the Myer marquee with amazing fashion illustrations and flowers filling the walls, and delicate hors d’oeuvres and cocktails served to the guests. Myer ambassadors Lauren Phillips, Kris Smith, and television personalities Andy Lee, Chris Brown, and Melissa Doyle were among the guest list.

SCHWEPPES
The Schweppes marquee proved to be the foodies delight, with custom cocktails and a bespoke New Orleans-esque menu enticing guests. The alfresco area served as the place to be, with a sight of the racecourse and within earshot of the big band outside that brought home the southern feel of the space.
LAVAZZA
Lavazza hosted some of the day’s biggest guests, including soul singer Erykah Badu, model Montana Cox, Nadia Bartel, and son of Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood, art dealer Ty Wood. Keeping true to the promise of the marquee turning into a day club, the self proclaimed party marquee kicked things up a notch with cocktails and Erykah DJing Motown classics throughout the afternoon.
