Inspired by the work of artist Jeppe Hein, Rachel Gilbert’s latest Autumn/Winter Collection entitled Mirrored Labyrinth is a beautiful collection of jaw-dropping biased draped gowns, fitted sparkly cocktail dresses and sequinned skirts. Gilbert also offers a selection of silky shirts and singlet tops, perfect for pairing with heavily embellished skirts.
Hein is the creator of mirrored maze installations that are set in alfresco surroundings, creating visual illusionary effects. Gilbert’s cleverly incorporates his ideas into her garments by using complex twists and tucks to give shapes to the pieces, and diamond faceted embellishment that shimmer and sparkle in the light, giving the illusion of a mirror.
Based on a palette of icy slate, deep forest and rich emerald green, limoncello and dove and powdered nude, beautiful tulle and silks are delicately embellished with seed beads, gem stones and sequins, keeping with Gilbert’s sparkly aesthetic.
