WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! The footy season is done and dusted, its getting warmer, party season is kicking off and yes, rappers Drake and Future have dropped their highly anticipated mixtape titled after the sentiment… what a time to be alive indeed! I’m loving Jumpman. This month also sees the release of the new Disclosure album Caracal and whilst it’s hard to pick a favourite track, the album is all-killer, the amazing Lorde feature Magnets is hard to look past. They’ve also collaborated with the Weeknd and I still can’t stop listening to his album; Tell Your Friends is my jam at the moment, mostly due to Kanye West’s epic production. No doubt you all saw media coverage of Kanye’s Yeezy Season 2 show at NYFW where he featured new music from himself and up-and-coming rapper Post Malone, so check out his breakthrough track White Iverson.
New Tinashe… nothing else to say there, she’s blowing up! Anyone else seen the new G-Star Raw ad on TV? I can’t get the Diddy and Pharrell featured track Finna Get Loose out of my head. With so much great music coming out every day, sometimes I sleep on songs and ODESZA’s Say My Name is one of those tracks. Now is the time to get yourself acquainted with one of the best electronic acts going around at the moment; they were just in town for Listen Out festival. Taking cues from electronic acts like Daft Punk and Justice, Chris Brown has a new single in Zero and it is AWESOME! Straight from the clubs, you can’t look past these tracks from A-Trak and Theophilus London collaborators Club Cheval. THROWBACK…. No, not really but Janet Jackson and Missy Elliot are back with an awesome new track; here’s hoping we get more new material from Missy! Finally, I am SO excited for the Flight Facilities show with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra later this month at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl; I can only imagine how amazing the uncredited Katie Noonan assisted Apollo will sound with live instrumentation. Have a great month!
