When it comes to skincare and beauty, I must admit I was a little late to the party. Throughout school, I never wore makeup (something that really showed in my terrible formal photos which I hope never resurface!) and only really started experimenting with it in my later years of university. I used to swim a lot while at school, so moisturising was always a big thing for me. Chlorine used to wreak havoc on my skin, so a good face and moisturiser was a must. As someone who is prone to eczema too, I’ve always had to make sure my skin is hydrated with the right products.
I wear makeup every day but I never want it to look like I’ve caked on beauty products. I tend to favour a natural, dewy skin look with light to medium coverage to even out my skin tone. While I love tinted moisturisers, they often don’t offer the coverage I need. I also find it hard to find a colour to suit my skin as depending on whether I have events, the colours I’m wearing, I will often be wearing fake tan. This means I tend to have two products I use to blend so I can find the perfect colour to match décolletage. There’s nothing worse than wearing make up on your face and neck and have the colour look totally different to the colour on your chest!
Having an Asian heritage, I often find it hard to find to find the right shade of foundation for my skin. I took the L’Oreal True Match survey which helps you find the perfect foundation for your skin based on your cultural background and skin tone. The survey only takes a few minutes to fill out but takes the hassle out of finding the foundation to match your skin.
I’ve been trialling the True Match Foundation for the past month and have loved the lightweight formula. It gives a beautiful, even coverage which lasts all day without creasing or building up on your skin (something which is so hard to find in a foundation!). It evened out my skin tone but didn’t feel thick and cakey like other foundations I’ve used. The finish was very natural looking which I love. If you want a heavier look, you can easily put a few layers on to give you more coverage. I loved the formula so much, I actually ended up getting two foundations to give me the option to mix when I’m a little bit darker in summer.
