Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016 kicked off with a bang today with Maticevski opening the week with an array of stunning gowns and a fashion forward collection.
We went backstage to check out what was happening behind the runway and what went behind the stunning look that accompanied the beautiful collection.
Nigel Stanislaus, Maybelline New York’s Makeup Director created a beautiful customised look for Maticevski’s show. He created a beautiful velvety soft, matte skin base with unapologetically dramatic lashes and a clean, natural lip at Toni Maticevski Resort 17.
Creating the perfect base was key to the look so more time was spent perfecting the skin. Dream Velvet Foundation Master Highlight in light bronze was used creating a light and fresh base.
To accentuate the face, Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette was brushed down the cheekbones and along the lash line to give some depth and dimension for the look. Baby lips was used on the lips to add shine and also through the brows to spike them out to match the lashes.
To create the dramatic lashes, Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara was used to spike out the lashes and create the focus of the look.
Renya Xydis created a windswept Blade Runner look using a variety of different products that were layered on. Ocean Spritz salt spray was applied to add some grit and density, Sugar Lift mousse to style and Perfect Me hairspray to set the look. Gel was used at the back of the hair to add strength and structure to the high pony tail with a twist. The juxtaposition between the fringe and the pony tail created the perfect look for Maticevski’s show.
Create the perfect makeup base required fresh and clean skin for Nigel to work his magic with Maybelline and this was done by Clarisonic. The Clarisonic team used the latest innovation, Smart Profile, to clean and freshen the skin through mini facials that were given to models backstage.
