Chill out – the Madame Brussels Lane European Night Market flies into town so grab your beanie, mittens and coat and get ready to embrace the magic of winter when Madame Brussels Lane transforms into a charming European Night Market this Friday. Every Friday from 22 July until 12 August, Melburnians are invited to rug up and ditch the couch for an unforgettable night filled with rich aromas of European fare and a quirky selection of new and returning stalls.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of classic night markets seen during Christmas in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and the UK, the stalls this year include:
- Sweet treats from The Brûlée Cart;
- Traditional Polish dumplings from EasternBloc;
- Cheesy fondue goodness from Frencheese; and
- Flavoursome praline nuts from Chooh La La!!!.
Eat all the delicious flammkuchen possible from Freida’s Flammkuchen, go crêpe crazy at Les Crêpes de Marion and enjoy live music and entertainment each night.
Madame Brussels Lane marketing manager Sarah Farley said the European Night Market was back by popular request, with all stallholders excited to put on another cultural feast for the senses.
“Our Madame Brussels Lane community, as well as our stall holders were all keen to recreate the magic of previous years so we are back bigger and tastier than ever. We will have plenty on offer with our existing retailers determined to give the ‘food experience’ of the year,” Sarah said.
“After a hard week at work, there is nothing like unwinding with friends and filling yourself with mulled wine and European delights and what better place to do it than at the Paris end of town.
“The laneway has a direct historical link to Europe as well, with its colourful German-born namesake, former brothel owner Caroline Baum, aka Madame Brussels, opening her first brothel in Lonsdale St in the late 1800s.”
The Madame Brussels Lane European Night Market will be held on Friday evenings over four weeks from 5pm until late on July 22 & 29 and August 5 & 12. For more information, visit madamebrusselslane.com.au
