Cancer is unfortunately a disease which has affected everyone in some shape or form. Whether you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, it is something which is having a real impact on society.
Couturing are proud to get behind the Cancer Patients Foundation’s Look Good…Feel Better program. The program’s mission is to help improve the wellbeing and confidence of people undergoing treatment for any sort of cancer. Cancer treatment is tough on the body and there are many side-effects which can effect a patient’s state of mind and confidence. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy can cause patients to have side-effects such as hair loss and have extremely dry skin. Side-effects such as these can cause low self-esteem and have a negative effect on the wellbeing of patients.
The Cancer Patients Foundation offers support to patients by providing free information and workshops for women, men and teens to help manage the appearance-related side-effects that may be caused by cancer treatment. Workshops are available at more than 180 venues around Australia. They are conducted by trained Look Good…Feel Better volunteers from the cosmetic, hairdressing and beauty industries who share their tips and technique for minimising side-effects such as skin changes and hair loss. Each participant also receives a complimentary Confidence Kit and instruction guide, generously donated by the cosmetic industry.
Next week marks the Cancer Patients Foundation’s biggest national campaign, ‘Dream Week’, to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Look Good…Feel Better campaign. Running from 8 to the 14th of September, the campaign is an opportunity for all Australians to help the women, men and teens who attend a Look Good…Feel Better workshop every year. All the campaign asks is for you to donate $7 (or more if you like!) to help raise money for this great cause. To donate, click here. For the cost of two coffees, you can help make a difference in someone’s life.
