Edgy, bold and mesmerizing encapsulates the beauty on display at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Runway 3, presented by Grazia.
Models walked in the latest designs from Ginger & Smart, Alice McCall, tigerlily and ksubi and proved that a bold makeup look can work across a variety of wardrobe styles!
The statement eye was taken to a whole new level on the Grazia runway with the emerald peacock eye. Makeup artist Rae Morris highlighted eyes with bright metallic colours. Sparkling greens and purples were combined from eyeshadow palettes in Emerald Conquest and Disco Smoking.
The emerald eyeshadow was painted onto eyelids following the natural curve of the eye and extended in a v-shape at the outer corners of the eyes. The purple eyeshadow was then brushed onto the middle of the lower lashline for a striking pop of colour against the bright green. White eyeliner was also applied along the lower lashline to open up the eye and balance out the bright colours used.
The bright eyes went surprisingly well with the geometric-patterned, flowing outfits at TigerLily and contrasted strikingly against Ginger & Smart’s bold orange gowns. The emerald green eyeshadow perfectly complemented Michael Lo Sordo’s geometric green, white and black coloured dress.
To finish the statement eye, brows were groomed and filled in with Colour Riche Le Sourcil in Golden Brown whilst the lashes were treated to a sweep of False Lash Telescopic in Magnetic Black.
The rest of the makeup was kept natural to maintain the emphasis on the beautiful eyes. Rae Morris showed the key to pulling off such a bold eye is to keep the rest of the makeup subtle. Models’ skin glowed with the use of Lumi Magnique Primer, Foundation and Concealer and Nude Magique Blush on the cheekbones for some warmth. These products made the skin appear quite luminous and complemented the shimmering eyeshadows.
The lips were also understated with a natural looking tint of Colour Riche in #235 Nude. A nude lipstick colour goes with absolutely everything and is an essential beauty product to add to your collection!
The hair was punk chic and edgy to complement the bold eyes. Hair Director, Caterina Di Biase created an extreme texture, wet look hair created for the runway. “The range of designers in this show was on the younger, eclectic side of things. So for the hair, the feel is a bit pop; really edgy and cool,” says Caterina.
Alice McCall differentiated her model’s hair look with the use of brightly coloured turbans for a splash of extra colour.
So, if you’re feeling brave, be bold and strut your own peacock with this stunning eye look!
