Stunning actress, Isabel Lucas has teamed up with two of Australia’s most iconic brands, Country Road and the The Woolmark Company, to celebrate the Australian wool industry. The short film entitled ‘Life Through Wool‘, encapsulates the spirit of wool and its importance in Australian culture.
Well know for her passion for the environment, Lucas stars at a farmer’s daughter who takes a trip from her new city home to the farm where she grew up. As she arrives, thousands of sheep are being prepared for shearing season. The rolling hills of Boonoke sheep station forms the perfect backdrop for the film, particularly given the history of the place which traces back 146 years as the birthplace of merino wool. Amber skies and whispering winds, gently blowing through the delicate fields of grass, capture the beauty of the Australian landscape, one that Lucas recalls her love for as she reconnects with her home.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lucas said “Where we were shooting in rural Victoria it was just so beautiful. The endless plains, old eucalyptus trees, amazing light (at dawn and sunset). Working with Country Road on the film was great fun and the team had a beautiful vision. It’s very important to me to support all Australian creations and Country Road appealed to me because they are so socially and environmentally conscious.”
Life Through Wool marks the 40th anniversary of Country Road, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Woolmark symbol, the marker that provides independent quality assurance of every merino wool product baring the logo.
Talking about the collaboration, Country Road managing director Sophie Holt said “We are so excited to launch Life Through Wool. We set out to produce a film that celebrated the beauty and light of the Australian landscape and the natural quality of wool – I think the piece captures this perfectly.” The CEO of Australian Wool Innovation, Stuart McCullough said the relationship between the brands was very important. “Like the Woolmark brand, we see Country Road as an iconic Australian brand which is well respected right across the country. Their commitment to the Australian wool industry – starting with the woolgrowers right through the end consumer – has evolved into something which is vital in the work we do.”
