As the first collection featuring Aussie bombshell Cat McNeil as the face of Kookai, the Spring Summer collection presented a sexy aesthetic for the new season. Aztec prints featured amongst bright pops of colour, contrasted against monochromatic black and white. Asymmetrical shapes featured heavily amongst separates and ‘must-have’ trend pieces like playsuits and wide-leg pants.

L’Oréal Professionnel session stylist Lisa Muscat of é Salon created two hair looks to ensure the beauty element of the show was as on trend as the clothes. “This season I think we’re going to be seeing a lot of softer, natural looks. It’s the kind of look that is low maintenance that any girl can recreate at home,” said Muscat.

“The collection was very crisp and also a little geometric so that’s why we created two hair looks. The sleek ponytail with a bit of texture is really in line with the design aesthetic of the collection and the down hair look with a slight bend sort of contrasted the clean lines. But I think they both complement the overall feel of the collection.”

Muscat kept the look relatively light when it came to product, in order to get body and fullness through the lengths and ends, “With this trend it’s really important not to overload on product if you want to achieve that natural feel. We used the new Tecni.Art Nude Touch finishing spray instead of a traditional hairspray to make sure the hair looked and felt natural,” said Muscat.

The Look #1: Natural Bend

Create the Look:

1. Star by applying L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art

Volume Lift mousse into the hair, taking sections from the nape and blow dry thoroughly.

Tip: If the hair still feels soft and slippery, repeat the process again – for body and beautiful bounce the hair needs to have texture.

2. Take a section of hair at the front, starting from two inches back from the face. Blow-dry this section very flat towards the face then brush back. This will help create a part that falls naturally and keeps its body.

3. Part the hair in a very clean centre part and comb the hair down.

4. Use a large curling tong to take large vertical sections of hair, winding the hair around the tong away from the face. Pin with a pincurl clip and tissue paper and leave to set.

5. Once cooled, take out the pins and brush hair with a soft bristle brush for a slight bend.

6. Finish with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Crystal Gloss for shine and hold.

The Look #2: Sleek Meets Texture

1. Apply a liberal amount L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art

Volume Lift mousse from roots to lengths. Blow-dry the hair backwards away from the face.

2. Take two triangle sections from each side of the forehead and bull back to the top of the crown and clip out of the way for now.

3. Pull back the sides and lengths tightly into a clean ponytail, sitting just on top of the centre of the occipital bone. Tie off with hat-elastic (Don’t cut off the ends of string just yet).

4. Un-clip your top section and backcomb and mould into a flat quiff blending the sides into the pony. Once the shape is right, use the ends of the hat-elastic around the ponytail to join the top section to the rest of the ponytail.

5. Spray L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Nude Touch Natural Finishing Spray over the quiff and lightly finger comb to give texture. Do the same through the lengths of the ponytail for texture and shine.
