Piccolina Gelateria has opened the doors of its second location at 296 Smith Street, Collingwood just in time to satisfy all your gelato cravings this Summer. The new, purpose-built flagship store boasts a 250-square-metre space dedicated to all things gelato, from the popular Piccolina flavours, to events, guest chef dinners and cooking classes.
Designed by award winning studio Hecker Guthrie, the new store will not only showcase the gelato but will also include kitchen bar seating for special events. Projects of Imagination have designed playful packaging in theme.
Since its inception in 2015, Piccolina Gelateria has treated Melbourne to its selection of all natural, authentic Italian gelato made using time honoured techniques passed down to owner, Sandra Foti, by her father and perfected over time through study and research in Italy.
Piccolina patrons can expect delicious flavours and quality that is at the heart of everything for the brand. Carpigiani machinery has been imported especially from Italy to churn the 100 per cent natural gelato made using precise quantities of fresh, high quality and local ingredients including milk, cream, eggs and sugar.
All Piccolina Gelateria ingredients are prepared onsite daily by a team of experienced pastry chefs and gelato makers, with new recipes and flavour combinations tried and tested in the ‘Piccolina Laboratorio Naturale’.
Chocolate sauce, ganache, caramel and jam are created from scratch using raw ingredients, fresh nuts are roasted and ground daily into butter, while fruit is zested and squeezed for the selection of gelato flavours from traditional Lemon, Classic Chocolate and Stracciatella to the more adventurous Lemon Curd Crumble and Sheep’s Ricotta & Fig Jam.
Piccolina Gelateria was named in honour of Foti’s much loved Nonna, who nicknamed her Piccolina as a child, and represents the beginning of Sandra’s love for traditional Italian gelato.
Piccolina Gelateria is open everyday from 12pm to 11pm and is located at 296 Smith Street, Collingwood.
