Melbourne is coming alive again with the launch of new restaurants and bars and the Ichi Group’s latest revival of 127 Brunswick Street. Fitzroy is no exception, with Hotel Fitzroy and its first instalment ‘Cappo Sociale’ launching today.
Hotel Fitzroy incorporates several offerings across multiple levels:
- Hotel Fitzroy Public Bar & Outdoor Dining – Ground Floor – Set to open mid 2021
- Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya – Ground Floor – A Fitzroy favourite currently open for dine in, take away and delivery
- Cappo Sociale – Level 1 – A 150-seater modern Italian dining room, lounge, bar, private dining room and terrace opening this week
- Rooftop Bar – Level 2 – City views and able to access food and drink from various offerings
“After a very hard year in hospitality, we wanted to hit the ground running in 2021 with a brand new offering, fit out and experience at 127 Brunswick Street. We’ve worked hard to understand what our location desires and will be leading a new team of strong, experienced staff”, says owner Vince Sofo.
Maurizio Esposito (formerly Cecconi’s, Il Bacaro, Esposito at Toofeys, Stokehouse, Donavans plus Otto in Sydney) will be joining the team as Executive Chef of Cappo Sociale. Having immense experience in Melbourne and overseas, including Michelin restaurants, Esposito exudes passion when having to revisit classic Italian recipes and creating a modern approach using only local and seasonal produce. “Cappo Sociale’s menu is made up of everyone’s favourite homemade Italian classics with a modern twist. It really is the best of Melbourne’s and Italy’s eating and dining culture brought together”, says Esposito.
Patrons of Cappo Sociale will experience a full Italian feast with a Salumi bar on offer, traditional pizzas, homemade pastas and risottos and a selection of large mains all ideal for sharing.
The bars across Level 1’s Cappo and Level 2’s The Rooftop are fully stocked with local and Italian wines, plus an array of craft and bottled beers and inventive and classic cocktails.
