The smooth sounds of double bass and slick keyboard thrust together and lingered in the air, as we were welcomed into a fresh, urban restaurant, Camberwell’s latest, He Says She Says. With an eclectic mix of antique items scattered around the restaurant assisting with its unique look and subtle ambiance, it’s easy to see how this restaurant will be the charming new favourite for many Melbournians.
Enjoyment filled the room as the crowd were treated wonderfully by wait staff and bar staff alike. Being handed beautifully presented food created immediate silence as everyone paused to contemplate the party in their mouths. The most outstanding dish of them all was the Snapper canapé with puffed rice, hosting subtle flavours and textures that complemented each other tremendously. Other dishes included piquant and tangy oysters, and the unforgettable pulled lamb shoulder. While the drinks were flowing, guests continued to indulge, the atmosphere was vibrant and warm, a great way to launch the menu and keep people enticed.
You only have to look on the He Says, She Says Twitter and Facebook pages, to see their incredible development. They have done well in documenting their labor of love from pictures of the building structure, to choosing a head chef and creating a menu, to finally launching. After talking with one of the engineers of the restaurant, it became apparent how difficult it was to try to create an elegant ambiance on such a busy road. Many agree that they have done a marvelous job.
He Says, She Says is located at 1101 Toorak Road, Camberwell and is open for breakfast and lunch everyday from 8am-4pm and open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday 6pm-late. We recommend booking, which can be done either online here http://www.hesaysshesays.com.au/ or by calling (03) 9077 7866.
