Vegetable lovers rejoice as burger institution Grill’d has created two new vegetarian options which will be sure to have your mouth watering. Whether you are a vegetarian or vegan, or just prefer a vegetarian option from time to time, you will love the new creations.
Australia is the 3rd fastest growing vegan market in the world* and 11.2% of its population classify themselves as vegetarian**. As result the Grill’d team of chefs have spent the past six months developing and perfecting two new plant-based burgers.
The first is Grill’d’s ‘Amazing Vegan Cheeseburger’, which looks and tastes like a real beef cheeseburger, made completely of plant-based ingredients. The vegan “beef” patty is crafted from a wholesome mix of chickpeas, pea protein, teff, rice flour, beetroot powder and cracked pepper. Combined with Dijon mustard, dill pickle, onion, tomato sauce, vegan cheese and vegan mayo. Great tasting vegan cheese and vegan mayo are notoriously difficult to source, but the overall flavour and taste of these Grill’d creations are far superior to most other products around the world.
While the ‘Amazing Vegan Cheeseburger’ will get people talking, the other new ‘Hemp Therapea’ burger will get people addicted. Following the recent legalisation of hemp as an approved food source in Australia, Grill’d is taking the first stride, with a burger made from nutritious hemp seeds. Hemp seeds are a highly sustainable crop; removing more CO2 from the air than trees and requiring a lot less water. Unlike corn, soy wheat and rice, it doesn’t require pesticides or herbicides and isn’t plagued by their allergies. The product yields food that is more nutritious, including the essential oil, Omega 3. It’s a moreish patty of green peas, fresh mint, gluten-free crumb and hemp seeds. Its flavor is boosted by a combination of ingredients; smashed avocado, cos lettuce, beetroot, fresh basil leaves, smoked sea salt and tzatziki.
Grill’d’s Founder and Managing Director Simon Crowe says that considering the growth in plant-based eating, they have upped the ante and created two new burgers for people who love plants and burgers. “Whether you’re a vegan or vegetarian who misses the taste of a cheeseburger, or a flexitarian who simply wants to enjoy a non-meat meal but doesn’t want to compromise on taste, we have you covered. We think all food-lovers will enjoy these new burgers, which are not only good for you
and good for the environment, they also taste great.” ‘The Amazing Cheeseburger’ and ‘Hemp Therapea’ are now available at all Grill’d restaurants nationally. For more information, visit grilld.com.au.
