A High Street institution has just gotten a new face. Following three successful years on the Prahran eatery scene, The Smith owners, chef Michael Lambie and long-time front-of-house collaborator Scott Borg, decided on a little cosmetic touch ups, resulting in a stunning new dining space and menu overhaul; both nothing short of delicious.
The new Asian-inspired fare focuses upon ‘graze and share’ plates and replaces the South American/Italian/ Mexican dishes of the past. Offering amazing tastes such as Roasted Eggplant in Orange Miso, Toasted Sesame & Basil, Carmelised Sticky Pork with Vietnamese Herbs & Duck Egg Salad, and Freshly Shucked Oysters with Kimchi & Bacon, as well as The Yuba Wrapped Tempura Soft Shell Crab Roll, known in Smith-circles as simply “the taste sensation”, the menu boasts quite a few dishes that are set to become crowd favourites.
To complement the delicious new menu, a refreshed cocktail selection and wine and drinks list has been curated, but not don’t worry old favourites like the ‘Original Jam Boy’ still hold court amongst newbies like ‘Muay Thai Punch’.
As for what to expect from the new Smith, Michael and Scott says that you should look forward to“great music, outstanding food and wine within a relaxed and refined space”.
The newly renovated Smith serves lunch and dinner 7 days, 11am till late and welcomes private events large and small. A monthly calendar of upcoming speciality nights including Hong Kong Seafood BBQ and Prahran Market Dinner ensures there’s always something new on the menu. The Smith is located at 213 High Street, Prahran, call for reservations on (03) 9514 2444, or visit www.thesmithprahran.com.au
