Taking his cues from the inspiring women that surround him, Gary Bigeni’s Spring Summer collection Alignment captures the timeless style and confidence of the kind of woman with mesmerising character.
The season sees Bigeni engage in an exciting new collaboration for the label teaming up with London-born, Melbourne-based artist, Matthew Johnson. Delving through a decade of new and archived works, Johnson’s abstractions are explored and reinterpreted by the designer through striking fluid shapes. Bigeni’s masterful juxtaposition of modern, digitally-inspired prints and cleverly draped silhouettes will surely enrapture his ever-growing following.
In collaboration with Melbourne-based artist Matthew Johnson, Bigeni has re-purposed six of his abstract paintings as prints. The pixilated formation reflects the digitalisation of our current world; injecting a modern fragility into this poised collection.
Rich pigmented colours of navy, cobalt, orange and jade meet with pastel shades suggesting the ebb and flow of natural energy. The designer uses his signature drape to further signify personal momentum. Fluid silhouettes are combined with sharp tailoring to represent the old and the new.
Cropped suiting styles in crisp woven cottons balance soft crepe dresses and silk georgette shirts. Mixed-graphics and play on scale bring striking resolution to this refined offering.
Clean, fresh and self-assured; this season is women’s past, present and future aligned.
