MONKEY KING BAR OPENS
Hailing from David Zhou, the mastermind behind Melbourne’s most iconic Asian restaurants and bars including Oriental Teahouse, Zhou Zhou and David’s, Monkey King Bar is the newest venture of the seasoned hospitality mogul.
The bar itself pays homage to the legend of Journey To The West, a classic 16th Century novel and cinema adaption that sees the Monkey King embark on a pilgrimage right across Asia after being imprisoned in stone for 500 years. This pilgrimage is showcased throughout every element in the venue. From the delicious Pan-Asian morsels and handcrafted cocktails right through to the Asian dynasty interiors, contemporary wall art and furnishings.
Showcasing the magic of this era, the King serves up cocktails reminiscent of the Forbidden Kingdom. He even has his own speciality lager, Monkey Brew that is served in an oversized teapot.
