It’s a new season and it’s a great time to update and refresh your home. Even better now with the availability of affordable and designworthy pieces from Target. We caught up with Emma Duxbury-Thompson, Target’s Head of Design for Hardgoods at Target to get her top tips to refresh our home this season.
Tell us about the new homewares range that has hit Target and how does it complement the beautiful range that was launched earlier this year?
As we move into winter you’ll see our products becoming more luxe and cosy. As the weather becomes cooler the colour palette grows much richer and colours and textures are overlayed into the range launched earlier in the year so customers can mix and match new pieces back with old. Tufted and woven textures, natural linen blends, plush and brushed velvet cord fabrications and artisan-style ceramics with imperfect, reactive glaze finishes throughout the range will help people to create that beautiful feeling of curling up and cocooning in your home in the coming winter months.
What are some of the pieces that you think will be a hit with homeware lovers?
Our Xanthe quilt cover set was really popular with our customers in white, so for our Autumn / Winter range we introduced Xanthe in a gorgeous sage green colour which is really on trend at the moment – it’s moody, dramatic and perfect for those colder months. Our fluffy round cushions are another on trend piece and a key cushion shape for the season. They come in white/grey and raisin colour options and have such a soft texture and hand feel to really bring that luxe feeling to life.
What are the key trends you’re seeing this Autumn/Winter?
Earthy, natural colours are key this winter – warm and vibrant terracotta and plum hues are complemented by a calming colour palette of sea foam and sage green and denim-inspired blues. Glazes and ceramics are also big with people wanting that handmade, raw finish to create authenticity and a feeling of reconnecting with nature.
We will also see a move on in our future ranges with a big nod to magic and whimsy in products that evoke spirit and help customers to create their own style. Crystals, astronomy motifs and a big move to wellness in candles, incense and oil burners.
What are your top 3 tips to help you update your home this Autumn/Winter?
Introduce warmth in the home this winter through rich colours and textures – new cushions quickly and instantly update your couch, an impactful quilt cover with a great printed design transforms the bedroom and a new set of soft towels in on trend colours give an instant bathroom make over. These are really easy ways to update some key rooms in the home.
