In celebration of this mindset, they’ve taken the next step in the journey to open their first concept store — a place dedicated to all things denim and everything that complements the perfect pair of jeans. The Waiting Room has opened in the new highly anticipated Emporium Melbourne building.
The Waiting Room launched their unique concept store to Melbourne media this month hosting a media breakfast in store. To celebrate the store launch media were invited along to a breakfast and a preview of the collections launching into store, the morning was the perfect way to start any morning, coffee, juices, pastries with a nice side of high-fashion.
In today’s digital world, we believe there’s still a lot to be said for being able to touch and feel a garment. We want to bring back some of the magic to bricks-and-mortar retail that’s just not available online. That’s why The Waiting Room takes cues from 1950s New York, when boutiques had solid front doors and specialist shopkeepers. Inspired by eras past — where being served by someone who had an artisan knowledge of their product was the norm — we can’t wait for our colleagues to share their passion for denim with you.
The Waiting Room also finds influence in our processes of craftsmanship, where human hands still play an integral role in crafting a quality garment. Working with renowned architects BKH, the store fit-out sees a palette of industrial green, tan, black and dirty white sit alongside leather finishings and brass fittings – it’s a little clinical, a little industrial and a little raw with a classic 8-meter long workbench taking centre position, acting as an innovative interpretation of the traditional store setting.
