It was a glamorous night of fashion in Malvern last Thursday as The City of Stonnington hosted the highly anticipated Spring Fashion Runway.
The historic event space of Malvern Town Hall was transformed into an internationally inspired runway, with more than 20 leading Australian designers showcasing their latest collections. This year’s event is dedicated to three distinct design streams: Urban, Spring Racing and Couture. Ambassadors for each stream include four iconic designers, Roy Christou of Honor Among Thieves (Urban), Trelise Cooper and milliner Kerrie Stanley (Spring Racing) and Nicole Williams from Nicolangëla (Couture). Local model sensation Paris Roberts is the face of this year’s campaign and will headline the Spring Fashion Runway. Roberts recently lived in Paris and worked for label Paul and Joe and has appeared in fashion titles Elle Magazine and Marie Claire.
Two of Melbourne’s most recognised names in fashion, Lisa Gorman of label Gorman and milliner Gregory Ladner, were inducted into the Stonnington Fashion Hall of Fame, joining previous inductees including Karen Webster, Alannah Hill, Teresa Liano and Arthur Galan among others. “I’m honoured to be joining the ranks of some of Australia’s best designers and industry leaders like Joe Saba, Karen Webster and Janice Breen-Burns. I hope that I can inspire other designers to come,” said Gorman.

More than 400 guests attended, including TV presenter Lauren Phillips, fashion blogger Nadia Coppolino, radio personality Lauren Brain, models Chelsea Scanlan and Olivia Moore, and fashion designers Arthur Galan, Kerrie Stanley and Dom Bagnato.
Encompassing the stylish precincts of Chapel Street, High Street and Toorak Road, the City of Stonnington is home to some of Australia’s most recognised fashion designers and houses. Stonnington’s Mayor, Cr Koce said that “this year’s event is edgier and more fashion forward than anything we’ve ever produced…City of Stonnington is at the forefront of the Australian fashion industry, and this event will showcase the breadth of premium fashion we have in our retail precincts.”
With Spring only a few days away, the event provided great inspiration for sunny days to come.
