THE NATIONAL MIND SHIFT SELF ESTEEM INITIATIVE
Mind Shift – The National Self-Esteem Initiative – is asking Australians to make a positive pledge to themselves this September as part of its interactive campaign Glass Half Full. Now in its second year, Mind Shift’s Glass Half Full week kicks off on September 1 with the purpose of promoting healthy self-esteem, self-awareness and encouraging all of us to see personal situations in a more positive light. Essentially, taking on a glass half full attitude.
People can take part by making a Glass Half Full Pledge, a promise that is personally meaningful with the intention of maintaining a more optimistic outlook on life throughout the campaign and beyond.
Making your promise is simple:
- Start by writing a Glass Half Full Pledge. It doesn’t have to be long; it just needs to be personally meaningful and, most importantly, achievable.
- Choose a personal photo or an image of something connected to your promise, write your pledge (a maximum of 40 words) and log onto www.mindshift.org.au/your-pledge
- Mind Shift will then send you a copy of your Glass Half Full Pledge as a JPEG for you to easily share with friends, family, schoolmates, and colleagues or via social media for accountability.
- The Pledge can also be kept as a personal reminder in a visible place – ideally on your fridge or bathroom mirror.
Glass Half Full is dedicated to promoting healthy self-esteem by ensuring everyone, regardless of background or social status, has access to resources and support that will allow them to achieve self-worth and purpose in life.

STYLE FOR LIFE DAY – ELEVEN AUSTRALIA AND HAGAR JOIN IN THE FIGHT TO END SLAVERY
Join ELEVEN Australia and Hagar in the fight to end slavery at the annual Style for Life Day, on Sunday 26 July 2015. Now in its third consecutive year, the national event will see ELEVEN Australia salons around the country open their doors on a Sunday to cut and style as many customers as they can sit in their chairs, with all proceeds from the day donated to not-for profit organisation, Hagar, an international charity that works to restore the lives of women and children who have survived severe human rights abuse including rape, paedophilia and modern slavery.
By booking your next hair appointment at a participating salon on Sunday 26 July, you will be making a difference to the lives of people in need by supporting the funding, training and economic empowerment of vulnerable women and young people affected by human rights abuse. Funds raised on Style for Life Day last year were used to support the lives of these brave women in Cambodia. By providing a skill, such as hairdressing, women are given the power of independence and a second chance at life.
Hagar patron, Actor and Director, Rachel Griffiths will be doing her bit to support Style for Life Day by encouraging all Australians to book their next hair appointment on Sunday 26 July. This year, Australian actress and rising star Demi Harman will also join Griffiths as a Style for Life ambassador and is thrilled to be making a difference to women and children’s lives around the world.
