Cameo celebrate all things bright and beautiful in their SS14/15 collection, shown this week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. In a collection inspired by light, Cameo’s summer offering is a lesson in accentuating the female form. Geometry fuses with digital blooms to create prints that are both feminine and cutting edge.
After a citrus opening ensemble, we graduate into a line of blacks and kelly greens. A thin triangle print, like light bouncing off glass, darts across slouchy trousers, shift dresses and a boxy sweater before moving into a monochromatic colour way. This crisp print freshens up blocked green separates, adding an element of femininity to the sports luxe silhouette.
Oversized charcoal blooms, again combining the sporty with the frivolous. High necks and halters are high key, paired with classic blacks for a sophisticated head-to-toe look. Classic silk shirts are given an update in digital florals and cap sleeved whites.
Ever flattering sweetheart bust lines make a welcome comeback in the form of high-shine bustiers and an essential LBD. White lace is given a fresh, modern twist when combined with paper bag waisted shorts, wrap skirts, sheer panelling and exaggerated bomber sleeves. A high necked lace dress possesses the power to be dressed both up and down- a design approach that lies at the heart of the Cameo label.
Horizontal stripes have nautical appeal, paired with tailored white caping and sexy crops. We close with more digital prints, exploding across a structured LBD like paint on canvas. Last season’s peplums have been replaced by strategic draping, cinching in at the waist to create an equally feminine silhouette.
A fresh, fun collection, Cameo’s SS14/15 offering celebrates light and colour.
