YVES SAINT LAURENT FUSION INK FOUNDATION
I’m going to be totally honest. I loved this foundation and I now understand why there were thousands of people on a waiting list for this foundation. It’s because it is amazing in all aspects that a foundation is supposed to do – coverage, wearability, application and texture.
The texture of the foundation is light and weightless. It reminded me of Giorgio Armani’s Maestro and NARS Luminous Weightless foundation due to its silky weightless feel, but unlike those products, it provides me with a greater amount of coverage (and wear) whilst also leaving skin feeling very natural and hydrated. It means that I don’t have to use a lot to create smooth skin and cover any imperfections. I have some sun spots/freckles and this foundation provided enough coverage to blur these out as well as creating a soft matte base for blush and bronzer.
Fusion Ink’s applicator is easy to use by dipping the wand into the bottle and just putting the right amount on the palm of your hand so as not to waste any product by trying to pour it out. I found it best to apply to my face using fingers to the face, although a sponge would be equally as good.
Finally the aspect that seals the deal for me is that after an 8 hour day in an air conditioned office, it doesn’t come off and my skin hasn’t dried out. Meaning that if I’m headed out after work, I just have to reapply some colour to my cheeks, add some colour to the eyes and lips and I’m done. All without having to carry around a bottle to reapply. Perfect!

YVES SAINT LAURENT ROUGE PUR COUTURE GLOSSY STAIN
Although I have lips that Kylie Jenner wished she had naturally, I’ve always been a bit shy about mine and have stuck to subtle nude colours on the lips. However since I started at Couturing, I have become a little bit more adventurous (read: obsessive) with my choice of lip colour and product and have a collection that takes up an entire box in my makeup collection. My challenge over this time has been to find a lipstick or lip stain that doesn’t dry out my lips and has great staying power. I’m pleased to say that the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain does both.
This glossy stain combines the very best qualities of a lip stain and a gloss together into one product. When you apply the light weight formula onto your lips using the slanted short bristled applicator, you notice the instantaneous effect of the stain on the lips providing a real hit of colour on your lips (if you’re choosing a bright pink like I did!). The applicator brush is very easy to use and allows great manoeuvrability meaning a precise application to the lips.
The gloss formula gives you just enough shine on your lips, enhancing the total look and keeping lips hydrated. From a wearability perspective, it lasts really well and is pretty good at staying on if you’ve had a few drinks. Even at dinner, it’s really only after you’ve wiped your mouth with a napkin that you begin to lose some of the shine but the strength of the stain means that at the end of a meal you can just dab a bit on the lips to get some shine back. Definitely one to add to your collection if you’re looking for something with great staying power and colour.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain ($52) is available in 18 shades from YSL Beauty at Myer, David Jones, Mecca and Adore Beauty.
