Welcome to the world of Couturing Beauty! It’s been over two years since I took the helm of the Beauty section at Couturing and it’s been a fantastic journey so far. I’ve been very fortunate to become involved with the Beauty industry, knowing what the next trends and products are before they hit the market. I’ve been able to test new products and beauty treatments, as well as getting the real insider view from experts in skincare, makeup and hair so that I can share with you what the latest trends are and what are the hottest products.
In this position, I have been lucky to try a multitude of different products, some I’ve loved and some I haven’t! All in all, most products I’ve tried have been pretty good and it means that I know what works for me and what might work for others. In fact, it seems that I have become the “go-to” person that everyone asks for Beauty advice! So I thought instead of sharing my thoughts on what I’m using and loving to a select few, I thought why not share it with the broader Couturing community. Every month, I’ll pop up a list of the different products I’m using and give you the low down on what I love or don’t love about various products. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts on various products and I’d be interested to hear from you whether you feel the same!
So here are some of my favourites this month….
Dermalogica Pure Light 50
I wear a sunscreen every day, no matter what season it is. It helps to shield the skin against the harmful UV rays and it helps to prevent any pigmentation that I’m quite susceptible to. The Dermalogica Pure Light 50 is a nice broad spectrum moisturiser that is medium weight and ok to wear under makeup. Not only does it help to block out harmful UV rays, it also helps to balance uneven skin tone with peptides and hydrates at the same time. It doesn’t feel greasy and is the perfect every day day time moisturiser, you just need to use a small pea size amount.

Maybelline New York Pump Up! Colossal Mascara
If you’re anything like me, it’s all about the eyes. So having a good mascara that gives me length and volume is what I need. The formulation is smooth and it doesn’t clump which is perfect for my small lashes. The other great thing is that the brush gets good coverage and the wand is easy to use (you’d be surprised at how many wands are not great at getting to where you need to put the mascara!). It also lasts without smudging.
$19.95. Available at leading supermarkets and Priceline.
Maybelline New York Master Graphic Eye Liner
I LOVE Maybelline New York’s Master Graphic eye liner. Love is a strong word, but after using this for the last month, I don’t think I could live without it. Why? I wear eyeliner every day and I have tried countless liquid eye liners over my life and this is the one I can honestly is perfect. Master Graphic ticks all the boxes. The shape is perfect. It’s like a short round pen, meaning you can angle it whichever way you want easily, achieving the perfect width of the liner that you want. The angled tip makes it easy to apply and you can adjust the width of the line depending on what you want – thin for a day time look or amp it up by applying more of the tip to the eye line. It also wear incredible well and doesn’t really wear off and doesn’t smudge. Plus at only $14.95, it’s amazing value and proves that you don’t have to spend a lot to look good.
$14.95. Available at leading supermarkets and Priceline.
NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Majella
If you’ve never tried the NARS Satin Lip Pencil, then head down to your nearest Mecca Cosmetica to give it a go. I have a few of these Lip pencils and I love them. Easy to apply, great wearability, and most important to me is that they hydrate the lips. Majella is my latest NARS Lip pencil acquisition – it’s a lustful red, in a shade that’s perfect for my skin tone. It suits most skin tones so if you need a pop of colour this Autumn then give this a try.
$34. Available at Mecca Cosmetica or online at www.meccacosmetica.com.au
ModelCo. Face Base
I’ll admit that I haven’t always been a Primer user. But once I started, boy did it make a difference to my life (same with eyebrow pencils but I’ll save that for the next one!) This ModelCo. primer is really good for helping foundation set on the face for the whole day. The texture is soft and silky and is easily absorbed into the skin meaning you don’t have any residue when you put your foundation on top. You only need a small amount as it’s got great coverage.
$39. Available at www.modelcocosmetics.com.au
So that’s it from me for this month. Please do leave any comments you might have on the different products I’ve talked about above. I’d love to hear what you think!
