Bold. Exciting. Extreme. All perfect words to describe the Balmain brand. Now, with the introduction of their latest fragrance, Balmain have captured that rocker spirit and bottled it in a sleek golden bottle, reminiscent of a couture Balmain gown.
Describing the oriental floral she created, perfumer Emilie Coppermann said “Extatic is the olfactory metaphor of the Balmain woman, who captivates through a certain lightness combined with an assertive character. No to mention an ‘aristo-rock’ offhandedness which makes her the irresistible center of attraction for all eyes.”
At first smell, Extatic draws you in with a dynamic mix of crystalline rose, nashi pear and osmanthus. Like a Balmain gown, daring and vivid, the unique blend captures your senses, leaving you wanting more. The middle notes combine a unexpected touch of chocolate-scented Sharry Baby orchid and iris, wrapped in a sultry tone of night jasmine. Dark and intoxicating, this captures the wild and elegant nature of the Balmain woman. The lingering base notes draw from the material used to make the flagship Balmain wardrobe, a velvety touch of Barenia leather.
Taking direction from Balmain’s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, the Extatic bottle echos the aesthetic of the Balmain label. The perfect blend of Parisian elegance and rock spirit, the black and gold design envelopes the golden liquid which frames the silhouette of a black stilletto heel.
One of Rousteing’s favourite muses, Anna Selezneva fronts the campaign for the perfume which was shot by Karim Sadli. Speaking about his muse, Rousteing said “It’s not only Anna’s beauty which makes her the ideal Extatic muse. It’s also her incredible sensuality. She knows how to take advantage of her perfectly self-assured sex appeal without losing a bit of her elegance.”
