The last few days of Australian Fashion Week showcased a variety of innovative and thoughtful beauty looks. Here are our faces and hair from the rest of the week of MBFWA 2017.
Maybelline New York for C/MEO
Nigel Stanislaus created a look fit for a girl who is in love and on holidays! Maybelline Facestudio Master Blush Color & Highlight Makeup Kit and Maybelline Bricks Bronzer and Highlighter was used for a beautifully soft finish. “We wanted to take her from the catwalk, to the sidewalk, to the plane and onto the holiday destination” said Nigel. The make up was kept simple with Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation used to provide medium coverage and pink eyeshadow on the lids overlayed with bronzer to warm it. The look was finished off with Maybelline Baby Balm & Blush in Innocent Peach.
Dermalogica for Christopher Esber
Cult skincare brand, Dermalogica, was behind the scenes at Christopher Esber, prepping the models’ skin.
“The look today was all about dewy, glowing skin and Dermalogica’s team have created just that.” said Christopher Esber.
Jodi Ayre, Dermalogica International Corporate Trainer on the skin look, “A healthy complexion is integral for models at fashion week when they’re constantly being bombarded with an array of products – not to mention the impact of stress from running between shows! Each model experienced a personalised 10-minute Dermalogica FaceFit treatment designed to calm and hydrate the skin, keeping them as skin fit as possible. The treatment began with a double cleanse using PreCleanse to effectively remove any makeup, followed by UltraCalming Cleanser to clean the skin without drying or creating sensitisation. We then applied Daily Resurfacer over the entire face, a chemical exfoliant designed to brighten and hydrate. The eyes are a key area, which can show signs of stress and fatigue, so Stress Positive Eye Lift was applied as a 5-minute masque to brighten and hydrate the area. Following this, UltraCalming Mist was spritzed on the skin to calm any redness and sensitivity. Finally, for a subtle dewy finish we applied Phyto Replenish Oil and Skin Smoothing Cream to create the perfect canvas for makeup application.”
evo hair for Acler
Designed to compliment the modern renaissance mood established for Acler’s resort 18 collection, Lauren McCowan, evo hair creative director, dressed the models with simple, strong and elegant hair for the brands intimate lunch showcase at MBFWA 2017. With looks featuring sleek, middle part, ear tucks for long hair and shabby textures for shorter hair, Lauren wanted to capture the collections classic femininity and 80s revival.
“The hair look was a celebration of women, their style and grace. We worked together to compliment the Acler women that this collection is projecting and decided that a chic, sleek middle part, ear tuck style would fit best. The best part about this style is that anyone can do it at home. The end result expensive looking hair, thanks to the evo range of styling products.” said McCowan.

Ginger and Smart unveiled a joyful and modern collection in celebration of women in the arts. The collection is inspired by the innovative and vibrant work of iconic sculptors including Ray Eames and Eva Hesse. Lara Srokowski, Lancôme National Make up Director said of the look, “The beauty look created for Ginger and Smart embodied effortless glowing skin by using Lancôme’s iconic Advanced Génifique with a unique youth activating device to create the Parisienne glow before make-up application. Three of the looks had a modern pop of colour, reflecting the bold and graphic design elements within the apparel.”

Redken for Michael Lo Sordo
Philip Barwick’s inspiration for the Michael Lo Sordo Resort ‘18 Show was anchored by a celebration of individual beauty. “The mood was playful and effortless. Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry Style Enhancing Oil enabled a seamless blow dry experience with brilliant shine, and Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray created effortless texture with lightweight hold.”
To prep the hair, apply a small amount of REDKEN Diamond Oil Glow Dry Style Enhancing Oil to towel dried hair through the lengths, followed by a generous spritz of REDKEN Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray all over. Philip then blow dried on a gentle setting, using fingers to shape and direct the hair around the head from one side to the other, lifting the roots gently to direct air down the hair shaft to polish the cuticle and create soft volume. Once dried, he side parted the hair through to the middle part and used a large barrel curling tong to create volume at the roots by wrapping the hair in a C shape rather than fully wrapped around. One the other side, the same application was repeated all the way around to create soft, uniform volumes. He finished the look with REDKEN Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray all over to create touchable texture with lightweight hold.
