The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s (ASRC) is holding its annual fundraising event, Feast for Freedom, this March between the 19th and 22nd, raising awareness and funds in aid of people seeking asylum. More than 700 people are expected to take part and host a ‘Feast’ in their or workplace on the campaign’s official weekend, cooking dishes from recipes gifted by refugees and people with lived experience of seeking asylum.
Feast for Freedom is a celebration of what unites us; food, culture and community, while raising vital funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, an independent, not-for-profit supporting people seeking asylum. This year’s Feast will feature recipes from Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea and Iran, lovingly
gifted by the event’s featured hero cooks Genet, Veronica and Hamed respectively. Everyday people around Australia will cook up a storm and host their friends and family for a Feast inspired by the recipes and stories of the event’s hero cooks, all of whom have lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia.
