The holiday season is upon us and one of our favourite places to find our Christmas gifts, MECCA has released its Holiday 2019 collection in store and this year, the packaging is equally as exciting with colourful designs from internationally recognised artist, Tammy Kanat. The collaboration with Tammy Kanat, who produces innovative, vibrant & uplifting tapestry pieces, will see her designs on the limited edition packaging. This is the fifth consecutive year that MECCA has partnered with a female artist for the holiday packaging and as part of this collaboration MECCA contributes to the acquisition of a major work for the NGV’s permanent collection.
Mecca’s vision is an equitable world for women & girls, and they champion this mission through the MECCA M-POWER initiative, including the empowerment of women in the arts. Following 12 years as a jewellery designer, Tammy diverted her artistic talents to textiles and has since produced commissions for local and international clients. Tammy believes weaving is an ever evolving and timeless art form and an enchanting way to share the impact of her surroundings.

Tammy’s Circles of Life series has been commissioned by the NGV as part of the Gallery’s partnership with MECCA which sees MECCA Founder and Managing Director Jo Horgan support the NGV to acquire new works by female Australian contemporary artists for the NGV Collection. The series will be exhibited in the NGV from the 26 Oct 19 – 29 Mar 20.
The delightful designs will also be found on MECCA’s signature line limited edition gift packs which are now in store or online now.
