With L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) only a month away, this is your chance to be a part of the magic of fashion week. Unlike Australian Fashion Week which has an industry focus, LMFF encourages everyone to come and be part of this amazing week which celebrates fashion, business and beauty. Check out Couturing’s coverage of the LMFF Hair and Make-Up Trials to see what we can expect this season on the runway.

Yesterday was the launch of the official 2012 LMFF program. To celebrate, the Herald Sun was giving away free Herald Suns featuring an exclusive LMFF wrap containing inspiration on what to what this season. Five stunning models gracing the steps of Flinders Street Station to also help promote the upcoming festival.

From runway shows to fashion films and business series, LMFF 2012 has something for everyone.

This year LMFF has embraced technology implementing a large LED screen for their runway shows to enhance the visual display for guests, which is rarely done for consumer events. They have also introduced an initiative called Shop the Runway, which allows consumers to access imagery, video and stockist information directly after each show, and share your favourite looks with your friends. This is not only a fantastic initiative for retailers, but shoppers as well!

The opening event will set the tone for the festival with an open-air fashion infused block party planned featuring live music, fashion film screenings and outdoor bars.

Seven major L’Oreal Paris Runway shows are planned, which will feature a great mix of established and up-and-coming designers.

In a world exclusive, Alex Perry will be revealing his Spring/Summer 2012/13 Ready to Wear Collection in a glamorous runway show.

Dita Von Teese will be walking the runway to promote her Von Follies collaboration with Target. Inspired by the 1950’s, Von Teese has taken her love for lingerie and created a beautiful collection for women of all shapes and size.

The LMFF Graduate Showcase and Runway show will highlight 12 of Australia’s most promising designers. Handpicked for their originality, creativity and craftsmanship, these graduates are the future of Australian fashion.

The festival is set to end on a high with the amazingly talented Toni Maticevski showcasing a collection of couture inspired evening gowns and his latest collection in an opulent one-off show.

If that isn’t enough for you, there is also:

  • L’Oreal beauty workshops
  • a cultural program which has over 80 fashion inspired activities, many of which are free,
  • a series of special events including lunchtime style series, fashion lunches and special film screenings
  • art-inspired window installations
  • LMFF National design awards
  • LMFF Business Events Series
  • Herald Sun Marketing Breakfast
  • Fashion events at High Street
  • Fashion Industry Forums
  • Events on at High Street and Chapel Street

and so much more.

So there really is no excuse not to be a part of this fantastic program and experience the magic of fashion week.
