The Glen will launch its new fashion and lifestyle precinct, and the third stage of the shopping centre’s $460 million redevelopment, with a host of artfully curated experiences from 25 October to 4 November.
Taking The Glen’s focus on art and design from the newly built form to the experiential, the iconic shopping centre will be offering artistic tipples and treats, bopping to the beat of arty DJs, showcasing its insta-snappable and incredible new architecture, unveiling multiple large-scale artworks commissioned by leading Australian creatives, and providing plenty of artisan experiences and surprises.
Headlining the celebrations will be a pop-up bar in collaboration with cult Australian gin brand, Four Pillars. The Glen’s Gin Gallery will open Thursday to Sunday offering complimentary cocktail tastings featuring Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin and Negroni Spiced Gin and for those who get in early enough, Four Pillars Gin-infused desserts. Shoppers will be treated to gifts with purchase in the form of tote bags personalised by local graffiti artists (while stocks last), and for little visitors there will be fairy floss and face-painting.
Local art lovers will enjoy the arrival of a permanent gallery dedicated to Australian photography and curated by the nearby Monash Gallery of Art, a large-scale artwork created by Melbourne designer Suzie Stanford in collaboration with local Glen Waverley students, two illustrated murals by renowned artist James Gulliver Hancock, and a further mural painted by Carla McRae, known for her bright colours and geometric shapes.
Opening today, The Glen’s new precinct will truly elevate shopping to an art form – providing Melbourne’s South-East with a new fashion and lifestyle destination, featuring over 80 new stores including H&M and UNIQLO, and plenty of memorable shopping moments.
