Tell us about your involvement with The Book Of Everyone…
I was approached by TBOE to create original artwork as part of their new campaign in Australia. The brief was to illustrate a piece inspired by a list of generated facts related to my birth date. I was immediately intrigued by this and thought it would be a perfect project for me to challenge myself.
What has it been like working on the project?
After reading the list of facts given to me, I didn’t want to overthink the brief and decided to just draw which turned out to be the best approach for me as it was both challenging and enjoyable. If a creative project isn’t somewhat a challenge for me, it can become unfulfilling and there’s no fun in
something I’m too comfortable with. I prefer to be challenged when it comes to creativity otherwise I just feel like I’m not progressing or learning anything new.
What is special about it?
Besides the fact that the piece correlates to my birthdate, there were certain facts that I felt were personally picked just for me. For instance, the fashion trend of vibrantly coloured bomber jackets and babydoll dresses. That is literally my wardrobe.
How would you describe The Book of Everyone as a product?
Fun personalised gifts made uniquely for a special someone. I actually love this idea and from what I’ve seen in person, the quality of the book is amazing.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
If I could travel back in time, my 18-year-old self would be quite surprised but also stoked to see where I am now, to be perfectly honest! I have always wanted to pursue a creative career path and though I had plentiful doubt while growing up, I remained loyal to that aspiration and here I am today working as a freelance designer and independent artist in Melbourne.
I’m currently focusing on expanding my personal brand as an artist while also working as a freelance designer on various jobs including designing filters for Snapchat which has been a very rewarding job because I get to see my work out in the world used by people all across the globe, including high profile celebs! Every opportunity that has come my way this past year is because I hustled and made sh*t happen. All the good things happen when you leave your comfort zone and I’ll always believe that.
