Looking for a great casual place for a catch up with friends that has great food? Sporting Globe may not necessarily pop up in your list but maybe it should. Not necessarily your quintessential pub, but it definitely balances the feel of your local pub with something just a bit more fancy. It’s a casual place to hit up for some good grub in a nice atmosphere, bonus if you like sports because there’s plenty of it on the TV! If Sport isn’t your thing, that’s also not a problem. The space is large enough to enjoy the company of your dining companions without being overwhelmed by sports.
The menu features a range of reasonably priced dishes from crowd favourite starters like Pulled Pork Sliders, Loaded fries, Nachos and every type of chicken you could possibly want. Main dishes include favourites like Parmas, Steak, Ribs, Burgers, Wraps or if you’re feeling like something a bit lighter, a great rang of salads.
We enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak with delicious beer battered steak chips – definitely the perfect texture of chip – crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. crispness on the outside. Baby Back Pork Ribs were deliciously basted in Hikory Smoked BBQ sauce and cooked perfectly soft so that the meat was gently falling off the bone. Hearty serves that were too good to share!
If you’re a sweet tooth, you’re covered too. Ice cream sandwiches, chocolate brownies and sticky date pudding can help you satisfy any sweet urges but Sporting Globe has launched a limited edition collaboration for dessert with former MKR contestant Ash Pollard. The Peanut Butter Cheesecake was brought out over Spring Racing carnival and was so popular, it’s got its own limited edition run this Summer.
I had never been to a Sporting Globe prior to this visit but I really enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere. Also Wednesday night at Sporting Globe in Richmond is Trivia Night so if you’re looking for some fun, head in on this night to participate!
Sporting Globe is a place with great food, good fun without breaking the bank and I’ll definitely be back.
