Savoury or sweet? One or two? Champagne or sparkling? Questions that will cross your mind when you first arrive at Little Collins Kitchen at the Sheraton Melbourne. Their Parisian Afternoon tea will have you salivating from the very first moment that your eyes take in the array of delicious items that are on offer for the afternoon tea.

Named after its location at the Paris end of Melbourne’s CBD, the Parisian Afternoon tea takes the high tea experience to another level with an amazing variety of delicious treats that will satisfy even the fussiests of eaters.

On weekends, Little Collins Kitchens offers an Afternoon Tea Buffet and this is what we experienced on a warm Autumn’s day. The space is bright, warm and inviting and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon of sweet and savoury indulgence.

The buffet features all the traditional high tea fare including finger sandwiches and scones with jam and cream but the addition of other items makes this afternoon tea extra special.

The selection of savoury items include a great selection of both hot and cold dishes. Some of our favourite savoury dishes were the Mushroom Arancini,  Poached prawns on a a savoury pancake and Smoked beef on a brioche crouton.

The danger in a buffet is that even before you’ve made it to the sweets, the urge to try all the savoury items may preclude you from experiencing all that is before you on the dessert table.

The array of pastries and cakes is an eye opener. The desire to try everything on the dessert station is huge. How could you not with such beautiful looking cakes and pastries in front of you?

Each of the desserts were a delectable cacophony of flavours. From the Raspberry opera slice, layers of raspberry and the lightest sponge, to the Mandarin and Coconut Lime Mousse cake, the perfect combination of citrus and coconut with a light meringue, and the addition of pastries and macarons from The Crux Co, the entire dessert station was pure dessert heaven. And yes, we tried every single one and left no crumbs on the plate.

There is also a crepe station where you can have a freshly made crepe or even a crepe suzette. Beautifully cooked and texture, a definite ode to the name of the afternoon tea! For further indulgence, there is a chocolate fondue station with a variety of different items to dip into the chocolate.

The Parisian Afternoon tea serves La Maison Du Thé loose leaf teas and with the option for added indulgence with Australian or French sparkling wines, it’s the perfect accompaniment to the afternoon.

This is the perfect place for a variety of different events. A cozy catch up with your girlfriends, a special place to take your mum or just a high tea lover looking for a different experience.
