BY JOHNNY
The By Johnny beauty look is inspired by the festival going, free spirited girl with dewy fresh skin, brushed up brows and soft pink, just been kissed lips.
Nigel Stanislaus used the Baby Skin Primer to prep the skin before adding FITme Foundation Dewy & Smooth to the skin as a base and using Dream Lumi Touch Concealer where needed. Eyeshadow was swept lightly to leave a natural look with brows brushed up using Brow Drama Mascara in clear. For the lips and cheeks, Nigel mixed two colours together for a blush shade, patted on the lips for a kist been kissed colour and the left over brushed onto the cheeks for a soft flush. Nails were coloured with Color Show Nail Polish in Latte. To finish, gold dust was sprinkled over the cheeks, hands and nails.

“The collection is really flowery and pretty, so I created the hair look to be pretty, soft and youthful. It’s finger waved at the front with braids hidden underneath to pin it and hold some volume at the back, then the lengths are tousled with texture for an undone look.” said Renya Xydis, Wella Professionals Creative Director ANZ.
Using SP LuxeOil Keratin Protect Shampoo and Mask to clean the hair, Rena applied Sugar Lift and Ocean Spritz to the roots for texture, blasted with a blowdryer to dry in. A side part was sectioned off and Root Shoot applied on the roots in the front section then finger wave and dried by section with a diffuser until dry. Perfect Me was applied into the mid lengths and ends of hair and then blow dried with a round brush. Sectioned off into three part, Cloud 9 Waving wand was used to create loose waves and Dry Me added to the hair for matte texture. Hair pinned on the side with the cornrows.
WE ARE KINDRED
Ania Milczarcazyk, Laura Mercier Makeup Director says “I drew on the floral in the fabrics as the inspiration for the look and this is reflected in the products I chose to use on the models. The colours in the Extreme Neutrals Palette are earthy yet reflect floral, movement and tone. While the Bonne Mine, which is Laura’s “go to” for portraying the healthy glow from within, was used on the cheeks to give that feminine flushed look.”
In addition to the Extreme Neutrals Palette and Bonne Mine, Ania used Infusion De Rose Creme and Nourishing Oil to moisturise the face, and Belmishless Foundation Primer and Candleglow Foundation for the base.
Alphie Sadsad, Bobbi Brown’s lead artist for macgraw was inspired by French Royalty for macgraw’s Resort Collection 2017, Royal Botanic. ‘Think understated opulence and a rush of signature botanical prints in soft blues and pinks mixed with lace and velvet. Hair and makeup celebrate the individual beauty of the girls. Makeup is dreamy and romantic…… natural soft blush hues on cheeks and pink stained lips from kissing all day.’
‘Great makeup starts with great skin so preparation is key. Moisturise regularly, drink plenty of water and treat yourself to a weekly pamper with Skin Nourishing Mask for always healthy, glowing skin’ said Alphie. Models were treated with the Skin Nourishing Mask to prep the skin. Skin Foundation Stick, Concealer, Corrector and Retouching Powder were used to create the base. On the cheeks, Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks in Pale Pink was applied creating a pink hue. Keeping eyes simple with Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Taupe with Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink applied on the lash line. Eye Opening Mascara used on lashes. Lips had a dash of Extra Lip Tint to give shine.
Teaming up with sister design-duo macgraw, hair director Byron Turnbull and Edwards And Co for evo, created a sophisticated, 70’s doll-inspired style, complimenting the contemporary yet sweetly polished collection from macgraw.
”We wanted to create a look that encompassed the youthfulness of the macgraw Resort 2017 collection. We added volume to the hair with evo root canal and curled the hair, pinning and setting the look to create soft, bouncy waves. Just before the girls went on, we used the evo roy wide-tooth comb to break up the curls, finishing with evo love touch for added shine. The end result was fun hair that floated down the runway.”, Byron Turnbull says.
Models almost danced down the runway with knowing smiles to match their bouncy curls and the colour soaked collection. Featuring the macgraw styling that the fashion industry has come to know and love the royally-inspired collection showcasing ruffles, velvets and plenty of lace grounded with looped-up block heeled boots.
AKIRA
Izumi Onuma, Lead Artist Bobbi Brown for Akira kept makeup minimal, modern and nude. Skin was prepped with Hydrating Face Cream, Hydrating Eye Cream and Lip Balm before using Corrector, Concealer, Nude Finish Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, Retouching Powder to keep skin dewy with luminous neutral tones. For cheeks Nude Finish Illuminating Powder, Bronzer in Antigua were applied to give subtle nude colour.
Natural Brown Shaper + Hair Touch Up in Clear brushed up on brows to create extreme definition whilst Eye Shadow in White added as a strip on the lid added a contemporary edge.
Lips were kept bare with Uber Beige with the exception of four models with a pop of colour using Art Stick in Sunset Orange blotted with Blush in Flame to create a matte texture.
Izumi’s tip to keep skin hydrated ‘use Bobbi’s Soothing Cleansing Oil to remove all traces of makeup and impurities. The oil will leave your skin glowing, hydrated and plump. Finish with ten minutes of Skin Nourish Face Mask for a boost of hydration.’
REDKEN Hair Director Richard Kavanagh created a simple head-hugging silhouette for the AKIRA Show. The textured style was fashioned with Powder Grip 03 and Pillow Proof Two Day Extender.
“I wanted to create a genderless style with no beginning and no end. The frayed texture was achieved with Powder Grip 03 Mattifying Hair Powder and Pillow Proof Two Day Extender Dry Shampoo. The exposed pins convey structure and unashamedly celebrate the foundation of beauty.”
STEVEN KHALIL
MAKEUP BY BOBBI BROWN, LASHES BY ARTEMES LASHES
“This look is inspired by the sparkle of lights on the Eiffel Tower at nightfall. Our focal point is the eye, which is adorned by a sparkle shadow and a full wispy lash. Flawless demi-matte skin with a subtle flush of colour across the cheek and softly stained lips complete the look” said Alphie Sadsad, Lead Artist Bobbi Brown of his work with Steven Khalil at MBFWA16.
Skin was prepared with Illuminating Moisture Balm, Face Mist followed with a base created with Skin Foundation Cushion Compact and Nude Finish Illuminating Powder. Sparkle Eye Shadow in Silver Lilac, Sunlight and Silver Moon applied to eyes with a finish of Eye Opening Mascara on lashes. Artémes Lashes in ‘Second Guess’ were trimmed and added to the outer corner of the eyes in order to enhance the romantic runway look. The look is finished with a subtle flush colour across the cheek using Blush in Pale Pink and paired with a softly stained lip using our new Extra Lip Tint.
“Steven‘s designs are renowned for their luxury, femininity and glamour – and we wanted to bring that inspiration through to the hair. The details of the necklines are exposed by taking all of the hair off the shoulders and lifting away from the face. With one side pulled back and tucked underneath healthy, satin textured loose waves. This hairstyle points to all of the characteristics of the Steven Khalil women.” said Dale Delaport from PREMA for Goldwell.
