As the end of Summer draws closer, designer duo LIFEwithBIRD tempt us with transeasonal style.

The Australian fashion house’s “Found” collection for Autumn Winter 2016 drops into stores this week, making us long for cooler days and darker nights. The collection is a curated edit of artful pieces that combine colour, texture, print and form to bring a historical tribal aesthetic to the modern day.

Silhouettes are slightly exaggerated, yet balance remains key for the powerhouse that is Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner, with plunging necklines reaching billowing skirts and structured, boxy coordinates lengthening the limbs and showing just a hint of skin.

While quintessentially Australian, this collection has a distinctly global appeal. The prints in “Found” are inspired by West African tribal artwork in the urban landscape. 80’s artists Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat turned traditional art into a modern image, taking the abstract patterns into mainstream culture. These artists were, in turn, inspired by the houses of Burkino Faso, a West African nation with mud houses artfully decorated in graphic black and white prints.

At its very core, “Found” is deeply considered, wearable and versatile, with quality and attention to detail remaining intrinsic to the LIFEwithBIRD name.
