Pre-Christmas sales is one of the busiest seasons for retailers. It is expected to hit $46.8 billion this Christmas according to The Australian Retailers Association and Roy Morgan Research and in Victoria, the spending rose by 0.5 per cent. The competition is strong among Melbourne’s major shopping centres.
The main source of frustration for all shoppers is endless carparks with seemingly no free spaces or being charged an arm and a leg for a carpark especially in Melbourne CBD. Emporium Melbourne is luring shoppers to visit City for Pre-Christmas sales by offering free parking.
In 2014, Emporium Melbourne gave away 5,800 free carparks during Christmas shopping season. Emporium Melbourne Marketing Coordinator Erin Hodge said after great feedback from shoppers for offering free parking last year, Emporium Melbourne is bringing Storage parking back as a Christmas gift and inviting the customer to come into the city. With an expected foot traffic of 2.5million through its doors during Christmas shopping season, Emporium Melbourne is expected to give away 12,000 free carparks.
From 3pm on weekdays and all day on weekends from now until 24th December, shoppers can enjoy free parking when doing their Christmas shopping in the city. The only thing they need to do is reserve a space online in advance.
Eight carparks located around the city including Lonsdale Street, Flinders Street and Bourke Street are associated with the offer. Free spots are available all day on weekends.
