The Night Noodle Market is on again in Melbourne as part of Good Food Month. From today until November 29, you can get your fill of the tastiest delights from some of Melbourne’s hottest restaurants all in one place. Located at Birrarung Marr, this year’s Night Noodle Market is bigger and better, featuring more restaurants, more space and more seating for visitors.
Here are some of our favourites at the Night Noodle Market.
Mr Miyagi
Mr. Miyagi is introducing the older and wiser Señor Miyagi to the Melbourne food scene at this year’s Night Noodle Market. Señor Miyagi is creating three brand new JapMex-inspired tacos for the food lovers alongside the Mr. M classic – Salmon Nori Taco.
The three new tacos are set to tantalise tastebuds with everyones favourite Mexican & Japanese flavours. The MFC Taco features mini Miyagi Fried Chicken bits, sushi rice, sushi ginger, pickled cucumber and Japanese mayo in a tempura nori shell; Bombay Spider Crab Taco includes Tempura soft shell crab, sushi rice, curried mayo, avocado guacamole, crispy garlic in a nori taco shell; Señor M’s Potato Gem features classic potato gems in a spicy hot sauce, sushi rice, tomato salsa, sour cream in a nori taco shell. And this year’s lineup also includes the classic Mr. M’s Salmon Taco which includes grilled salmon, sushi rice, kim chi, Japanese mayo and chili oil in a tempura nori shell.
The Tacos will be available exclusively at the Night Noodle Market.
Lady Carolina
One of the hottest new restaurants in town, Lady Carolina, is launching at the Night Noodle Markets for the first time, with chef Paul Wilson bringing Peruvian inspired foods to the city’s doorstep. Lady Carolina is bringing something even more special to the Night Noodle Market by hosting renowned chef, Diego Muñoz, head chef of La Barra, Casa Moreya and Astrid y Gaston, recently voted 14th in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015. Munoz spearheads the recent surge in Peruvian cuisine, famous for its cosmopolitan flavours and ingredients, the cuisine is the living legacy of a rich history.
Paul and Diego will go head to head in a battle between Chifa vs Nikkei. Be a part of the audience to taste which of these Peruvian-Asian cuisines will win! A Chinese fusion derived from the southern province of Guangdong, Chifa is a wonderful melting pot of Chinese cuisines, especially Cantonese, with intriguing and delicious rice dishes and fragrant stir-fries incorporating local spices, meats and Incan vegetables. This offering at the Night Noodle market includes marinated prawns, quinoa and vegetables. “The Nikkei Dog” – wood BBQ Huachana sausage with Nori, Sesame & Amarillo Salsa is a unique dish dreamt up by Diego for the Night Noodle Market!
Hoy Pinoy
Definitely get your hands on one of the delicious Filipino BBQ skewers at Hoy Pinoy. The delicious skewers are marinated in Filipino marinades and you can have either pork belly or chicken. The pork belly is succulent and full of flavour and the chicken is cooked to perfection over hot coals. Hoy Pinoy has been a hit nationwide and you can understand why. Make a beeline for Hoy Pinoy by looking for the charcoal smoke rising from the stand.
The Night Noodle Markets as a part of Good Food Month is open now until 29 November 2015. Open from 5pm until 9pm Monday to Wednesday, 5pm until 11pm Thursday – Friday, 2pm until 10pm on Saturday and 2pm to 9pm on Sunday at Birrarung Marr.
