HAIR BY KEVIN MURPHY
Internationally acclaimed editorial stylist Kevin Murphy returned to the stage to direct the hair at Myer’s Fashion Launch. Accompanied by his team of Session.Stylists, Kevin created a slicked back hairstyle inspired by Bond girl Ursula Andress and her famous ‘coming out of the water scene’ with wet look hair. The slicked sides were tucked at the nape, creating a wavy wet distressed front, perfect for those wanting to achieve a futuristic fashion-forward style.
“The attraction in this look is its versatility and sense of effortlessness, suiting all hair lengths and textures, complimenting cheekbones and staying strong,” said Murphy.
Try the look at home by following the steps below:
PRIME: Begin using KEVIN.MURPHY UN.TANGLED liberally on dry hair, then clip away the top and side sections. Secure the back section flat at the nape of the neck and secure with a pin or stitch. Then apply KEVIN.MUPHY SMOOTH.AGAIN and KEVIN.MURPHY HAIR.RESORT to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair.
PREP: Draw back the sides, applying KEVIN.MURPHY HAIR.RESORT then dry into place. Secure at the nape with a pin or stitch. Apply KEVIN.MURPHY SMOOTH.AGAIN and KEVIN.MURPHY HAIR.RESORT to the mid lengths and ends.
FINISH: Large tong the top section, cool, then draw back over the crown, applying KEVIN.MURPHY HAIR.RESORT from roots to mid-lengths using KEVIN.MURPHY SMOOTH.AGAIN on the ends. Finally secure with layers of KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY.
MAKEUP BY NAPOLEON PERDIS
Wrapping up his Makeup Masterclass tour around Australia and returning to direct Myer’s SS16 makeup, Napoleon Perdis and his team of professionals created the ultimate bronze-goddess makeup look. Full brows, matte skin and heavy contouring were on display during the runway launch. Keeping the look minimal and complimenting the dramatic hair, Napoleon used an array of bronze colours for a seamless matte look. Following his favourite slogan, ‘Not to Prime is a Crime’, Napoleon teaches us how to recreate the look at home. Follow these seven simple steps.
STEP 1: CLEANSE
Treat your skin to a re-texturizing cleanse before starting your makeup routine. The aim is to soften and nourish the surface of the skin so it looks and feels more flawless, allowing your makeup to wear better throughout the day. Massage Balm Voyage Moisture Complex Cleanser and Makeup Remover over the skin using the Cleaning Muslin Cloth, rinse the cloth under water then remove most of the cleaner. This will allow skin looking fresh all day.
STEP 2: HYDRATE AND PRIME
Use Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum over the face and then drench the skin with Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer. This will plump your skin without leaving a physical texture on the surface and keep foundation looking fresher for longer.
STEP 3: ADD ESSENTIAL STRUCTURE
Before applying any colour or coverage, define your features! Start with Eyebrow Pencil Pale Rider or Chocoholic to define the brows and apply a rich coat of Long Black Mascara to the top lashes. Once features are defined, the groundwork is done.
STEP 4: REFLECTIVE CONTOUR
Enhance your bone structure with a luminous highlight, which will give you a more natural look that’s suitable for every day. Blend Light Switch Luminizer Palette Gold, Pink ice or Silver over the high-points of the face, the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, Cupid’s bow and brow bone.
STEP 5: PERFECT YOUR COMPLEXION
For fresh skin that requires minimal touch ups, opt for a semi-matte finish. For a lightweight coverage, blend Off Duty Tinted Moisturizer all over the face or for more coverage, stipple Foundation Stick through the feature focus area of the face.
STEP 6: BOOST YOUR BRONZE
Fake it don’t bake it! Apply Matte Bronze using Polishing Brush 35r to step the bronzer around the perimeter of the face, over the cheekbones, across the nose and over the eyes. For added warmth and sheen, lightly sweep Bronze Patrol over the high points of the face.
STEP 7: GET GILDED
Mix China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Double Happiness and Loose Eye Dust in Copper Element and blend over the eyelids using Full Coverage Brush g12. Finish the look with a swatch of Luminous Lip Veil in Caramel Kiss for a peachy-pink gloss.
