It’s not very often you get up, close and personal with a brand, and when you do, it’s amazing how much you learn. Last month, Sarah Busch from Sunday Riley visited Australia to talk about the brand, the range of skincare and makeup, including the latest cult product, Luna.
Sunday Riley, the founder of the brand has created a range that is 99% natural and she has used her background as a chemist to create formulations that are natural yet effective . Sunday Riley firmly believes that ideal formulas are a perfect union between pure, potent botanicals and advanced chemistry. The latest technologies are combined with ingredients which are 99% pure to produce innovative and highly effective skincare products.
Each product contains its own unique blend of technology-driven active ingredients, delivered not only at maximum purity, but also at maximum concentrations. As such, products can be layered and blended to achieve the benefits of hundreds of anti-aging breakthroughs. The range has evolved into one that has a cult following across the globe from celebrities to everyday people alike.
The face oil range includes:
Flora – A luxurious facial elixir formulated from three roses in a rich botanical base. Ideal for dry, very dry, dehydrated or mature skin.
Juno – A transformative lipid serum that helps to lock in hydration whilst fighting the visible signs of ageing with nourishing properties.
Artemis – This luxurious face oil is blended with botanical oils to balance, clarify, tone and detoxify the skin for an instant radiance boost. It helps to balance the complexion whilst also clarifying, toning and detoxifying the skin.
The latest products to hit the Sunday Riley range are Good Genes treatment, a treatment that helps to plump fine lines and reveal a brighter, smother, and more refined complexion using a formulation of high grade lactic acid, lemongrass and liquorice. Long term use can help to restore the appearance of damaged and uneven skin tone, reduce the visible depth of line and wrinkles and increase skin’s firmness and elasticity.
And Luna, a concentrated night oil is also new to the range. A wonderful night time oil that is formulated with a trans-retinonl ester, the visible signs of ageing are minimised as cold pressed avocado, chia and concord grape seed oils give the look of glowing skin. Essential oils calm and soothe and keep redness and irritation at bay. Although the colour of the oil is blue, the colour disappears as you massage the oil into your skin. Amazing.
During my chat with Sarah, it was evident that the range of skincare is made from beautiful natural ingredients and that they really can be used in different ways and purposes when mixed together. Sarah combined Good Genes and the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip cleanser together and applied it to my cleansed face. She explained that combining both is a great treatment for your face given that the Ceramic Slip cleanser helps to remove dirt from the face whilst Good Genes’ lactic acid helps to exfoliate the face and plump up fine lines, leaving a clean and smooth complexion. My skin felt glorious after this treatment which was finished with a hint of Flora on the forehead where I have dry skin and Artemis on my cheeks and t-zone.
A lot of people are reluctant to use face oils for fear that it will make their skin oilier so I asked Sarah what she thought about this. She emphasised that it was important to use a good cleanser to help balance out oil production. She said that some cleansers can dehydrate your skin causing it to overproduce oil and create cracks in the skin. These skin cracks are not conducive for good hydration or oil balance, meaning that products that you are putting on top of cracked skin are not completely effective – they don’t get absorbed properly and if you use oil products, you’re just adding oil to oil! So using a good cleanser is super important to help oil balance.
As I was heading out after the treatment, Sarah popped on some of the Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted primer to just give some colour to my face. This wonderfully tinted primer can be used by itself like a tinted moisturiser just to give a hint of colour to the face or it can have foundation applied on top. It is long lasting and effective so if you’re looking for a new primer or tinted moisturiser I’d definitely give this a go.
The Sunday Riley range is definitely worth a test out and the great team at Mecca would definitely help you find the perfect oil to suit your skin type and concern.
You’ll have glowing skin before you know it.
