Fashion month has come to an end and has given us plenty of outfit inspo, but now the hard part starts – how do you take your new favourite, lust-have trend from the runway to real life? Enter, Melbourne Central. We took a trip to the Styling & Personal Shopping Service and visited retailers from their expansive line up, guided by one of the talented styling team, Elaine Marshall, and guess what? We found that it’s not that hard to rip the look from the catwalk and put it into your wardrobe.

Military and khaki are trends that are seemingly omnipresent during the transseasonal months, but as we saw on the runways the new military is all about structure, interesting silhouettes, and luxe fabrications. Spotted at Marc Jacobs, Strateas.Carlucci, and Tome, the trend had fashion fiends worldwide fall in line and march in time with very fashionable company.

REAL LIFE

The new military is all about luxe fabrications in non-traditional shapes. To rip the runway, we headed to Sheike, who are always quick to translate haute couture styles to the high street. Starting a sleek, metallic knit like the Fifi long sleeve sweater, we retired the cargo-inspired trousers of the past, and kept the look structured and polished with a ponte pant. To finish the look, we layered a chic outerwear piece, the Ice Queen vest, and in lieu of combat boots, added a textured heel – we love the AW15 offerings from Wittner.

Want to join fashion’s most stylish army, or are you after a full wardrobe overhaul? Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for a very stylish save the date   – the Melbourne Central One Day Shopping Festival is back again! With special deals, events, and gotta-have-it sales, the 12 hour festival is one of the Melbourne fashion fiend’s most anticipated days of the year.
